12 Days to go / 14 First team players

Let's wait to see what happens, I have faith in the Management team to get it right.
No point flooding the squad with aging journeymen simply to make up the numbers.
Quality over quantity for me.
C'mon Boro

of course we want and need more in, we need a couple before the weekend clearly, then get another 5 before the window shuts. I'm sure plenty of other clubs feel the same. We're not carrying too much in the way of deadwood now, which is a positive.

Worth also noting we cant fill the bench either if we have only 14 players or should I say we cant currently make the five subs we are allowed this season.

But as said above we still have 2 weeks and have faith that when they get back from Portugal its transfers in all the way 👍

We may be loosing at least one first team player as well before the weekend.

It’s not ideal but it is what is and we must get behind the club and team.

I assume Steffen and Smith will sign, so that will leave us needing to sign another five in my opinion.....LCB, DM, CM and two strikers.

The majority of players we've apparently 'failed' to get have been poor. I'm honestly not bothered about any of them.

Do we just sign players that are no better or worse than we have? I mean Cardiff have signed 9 players. I'm not sure I'd have any of them.

We've almost certainly been waiting on Spence f*cking off. Wilder said we have two prem players that have agreed to come. So clearly the hold up is them getting a replacement or in the keepers situation a work permit. Simply nothing we can do with either of them.

Also the fact is the window is open for ages. Yes you'd want them in now but it's probably not possible as many clubs won't even know what squad they will register.

I'm not panicking. I would be if we had this squad when the transfer window closes. I think it's a safe bet it will be significantly better by then. We are no different to anyone else. You go on twitter and every champo fan is moaning about poor or lack of signings.

The only thing I slightly 'question' is telling Uche / Akpom and Hall not to bother coming in and to find a new club. You'd surely have them involved and they could be used for the first month of the season. You'd have all 3 on the bench. I mean Wilder has never even seen Akpom. You'd think he'd get him in for a look.

We need 3 strikers.
So 8 to go if we include Steffen and Smith, then 6.
Another if Tavernier leaves.

I get all the points re difficulties and I absolutely wouldn't want bodies in for the sake of it, but I thought Kieran Scott was supposed to be "the man"?

The squad is a million miles of a promotion squad and it will be same in two weeks time. the club and wilder has known since a long time before the end of last season that wholsesale changes were happening, but yet again we seem to be floundering and cant get people through the door. It the same pattern evry summer with different managers bulish promises which always seem to be around season ticket renewel drift into dissappointment and what could have beens.

These next few weeks will be interesting. I'm going to assume Steffen and Smith will sign, so you have to say we've gone about our business in a shrewd manner so far - we haven't spent a penny on transfer fees, and I can't imagine we'll be paying out much in terms of wages for any of the five signings.

What happens next is crucial though. We now have the Spence money so I'm hoping there will be a lot of activity in terms of players coming into the club within the next few weeks. I hope my fears won't be realised, and it won't end up being a case of us having to sign players Wilder doesn't want because we've missed out on his targets.

We have to spend it on players that can gain value.

Instead of sinking our capital in liabilities, players with little to no sell on value and huge wages, we need to invest it in assets, that can grow and give us a return.

I'm totally behind us signing 23 year olds with talent instead of 28 year olds who have peaked

Wouldn’t part of Scott’s remit be to ensure the club spends its money wisely though? We’re trying avoid repeating the mistakes of the Monk and Pulis eras, even right back to Karanka in the summer of 2016. No more panic buys or stockpiling players to pad out the squad. I’d rather they took their time and got the right ones than signed someone through panic.

It’s also feels like they’ve had to wait for the Spence money to be signed and sealed before committing to/confirming deals. That’s fair enough to my mind.

As has been said, every club is in the same boat. I keep a regular check on Championship transfers and most clubs have made 3 or 4 signings. Absolutely nobody is anywhere near close to being good to go. It’s the same in the Premier League. It’s the same every summer TBH.
