How long do we give Warnock then?

This season was supposed to be a fresh start. Warnock himself was saying that we’d be giving this season a full go in terms of promotion. That was what he said when we were well in the hunt for the play-offs last season. The club sold season tickets on the back of that sentiment, of waiting for next season. You can’t go back on that after a handful of games, IMO. The aim this season is promotion. That was what was said and sold to us from February/March onwards. He has to deliver better results than what we’ve seen since the turn of the year.
Talk is cheap viv

Disappointing today but we are in a transition period at the moment and we will hopefully see his preferred starting 11 in 3 or 4 games time. We have had a major overhaul of players out and players in and by far the most frustrating thing for me and assume Warnock is the amount of last day or very close to the last day of the window we done our business in. I’m sure Warnock would have loved to have had his targets in weeks ago and it is so annoying that we leave to the last day to send players who have been playing regularly out to bring new blood in. Warnock will be here for the season and will only go if he believes he can’t get the job done so it’s a case if getting behind him for the next game as things begin to settle UTB

It has been a very poor start to the season.
It is also pointless to suggest Warnock has just a few matches to avoid a change. He will be here for the season until a new set up is recruited.
It's disappointing, as I think we have better players than last season and in fact than we've had for a good while.
I had hoped that Warnock would galvanise, organise and get them performing quickly. I am far less confident he will do just now and I'm sad about that.
That’s exactly how I feel too. probably more so straight on the back of a defeat. I was really confident when I saw the team today too.

I am still optimistic
Its one bad game.
If we take half the chances we made we would have won
If our defence played like they usually do we would not have lost.
Paddy was a big loss just before the game.
For me we are not far away.

At what point does Gibson say it’s not working though? Christmas is generally too late. Warnock does need a little bit of time for the new lads to bed in, but we really need to see an up turn in results and performances very soon.
It hasn’t worked since January. He couldn’t bed the January players in so why or how will he bed these ones in? I just think he, the team, has lost its way. The same things that started happening in January last season are still happening now and have been happening for too long.

Won‘t be his fault. Coulson wanted to play games, club didn’t bring in the players he wanted, club brought in players he didn’t want, the referees have been poor, unbalanced squad inherited, players are making basic errors, we’ve been unlucky, should have been a pen, should have been a sending off, blah blah blah.

He galvanised us for a period, but since January we’ve been on a downward spiral with players regressing in terms of ability. His signings have been poor and the general gist of his press conferences seem to be designed to create a rift with those responsible for recruitment, distancing himself from Payero, Muniz and others whilst bringing in the likes of Bamba, Peltier and Olusanya (a “gut feel” signing). Forced to play Jones after planning to send him on loan (although now he apparently spotted something pre season) you can rest assured he’ll be out of the starting 11 soon.

Dijksteel and Bola have returned to their performance levels under Woodgate (Bola gives a goal away per game atm) with Spence and Coulson jettisoned leaving us ridiculously short yet we are playing a formation they’d be perfectly suited to.

It has to improve and improve quickly, otherwise we are in for a season of drudgery where fans will just drift away. Whatever happens you know when he leaves he’ll be a regular on Talksport slagging off the club, the fans and no doubt the chairman in his snide way.

But he will have done nothing wrong.

We can't just write off a season with 6/7 games played Muttley. It's simply not fair on the supporters and the hard earned money they're shelling out.

This is a worrying start to the season.
I don't think it is a right off to suggest that we won't get promoted. The hard earned money spent on tickets, shirts etc. only buys you the involvement the hope. Nothing more. If you are going to demand progress in a short time then you probably are better off keeping your hands in your pockets. I had no expectation of promotion this season. The flaws in our squad were plain to see. We have had too many short term attempts to clutch at a return to the PL and our squad and recruitment have been a mess for a long time. A team held together by short term signings with transitory managers. It has to change and it looks like from comments made by those involved (without making specific statement to the effect) is that we are going to be a "work in progress" for this season. There are obvious weaknesses in the squad that have not been addressed and I'm sure this is not at NW behest.

That's an excellent post Subbuteo 👍

I don't think any supporter is making demands but there is an expectation of progress. That's only natural otherwise what is the point? And I must have missed it but I haven't seen anything proclaiming that we are a 'work in progress'. That simply doesn't chime with the situation we have where the current manager is leaving at the end of the season. I can understand that NW may not be fully on board with the direction the club wants to take in the medium to longer term but he needs to be professional, accept it and get on with it.

There are some bitter people on here ..................................who are you going to bring in , bearing in mind Gibbo will not poach another clubs manager ...........ffs have a bit of patience , lots of new lads to bed in !!

How very depressing

So giving it a go is now out of the window and we are now left with a manager in his last season with a team he has half bought

I`ll give him till November International break and then get rid......shame really as I`ve turned to liking the bloke but it`s not going to work really is it

“Bed in”? FFS. They are being asked (and paid] to play football, not go into space.

Martyn Waghorn, Morgan Gibbs-White and Andre Grey all appear to have bedded in at their respective new clubs quite easily. Why do players at our club, with our fantastic facilities and team spirit, take or need so long?

I have a few concerns.
He praises Payero for the amount of work he did in training, and got the team to give him a round of applause, but he still doesn't play him, in a game we were overrun in midfield today.( we have not won the midfield battle yet this season )
Bola out, but no replacement, but he sanctioned the moves of our other 2 left backs.
Dijksteel had a mare, but Spence has gone so no cover ?
Tav had a mare, but stays on at the expense of Hernandez?
Bamba was too slow for both their goals, which we always new would be a weakness.
We don't seem to know what formation we play ?

all I was saying through the match was WTF… now I’m usually quite reserved in my judgment of players and team setup but today was a shambles I’m sorry to say. There’s no way we can play with a wingback system and not have qualified or players who want to play wingbacks!! Lol. Ok I’m overstating the obvious but clearly NW has got his sums wrong. Ikpeazu was totally isolated in his formation although the passing was dreadful there was little or no idea on what to do next. Plus points? We didn’t concede five or six!!

Payero turned his ankle in training and had an xray but carry on with your own NW Agenda
