I was there, are you sure there was only 87 Boro fans? From what I remember it seemed a couple of hundred at least.

I went to the FA Cup replay in 1991 by train, a 7 hour trip from Darlington, only to find out on arrival that the game was postponed, I had to stay overnight as no evening trains back. I went back down the following week for the re-arranged game, 4 days off work in total, at least we won .

It is 166 miles from my flat in Edinburgh to the Riverside, but the journey is slightly longer by train via Darlington. Also there is the detour to the pub pre-match to add to the journey.

A few bottles of Peroni Red tonight and musically here’s an excellent one from Billy Bragg who I saw on Tuesday night. As his encore he did the whole Life’s A Riot EP, it was superb.

He dips into his whole back catalogue, however don’t expect many Jam or Style Council songs. He usually finishes with Town Called Malice.
