Deadline Day

I think we might get Frank the tank or someone like him on loan, and that’ll be it.

Go with what we have up front, which might not be that bad - Muniz looks quality, hopefully one of the others steps up once the squad settles down a bit. One of Chuba, Forss or Dunc might be a decent partner for him.

Larsen on speed dial for January if he doesn’t move.

Is it the PL loan deadline tomorrow too?

I just can’t see us doing a big last minute permanent deal for £10m kind of money if someone becomes suddenly available, too much risk and feels like panic buying. There’ll be some musical chairs in the PL though so could see us picking up a surprise loan out of nowhere, a Billy Gilmour or (god forbid) Connolly type.

Scott's job shouldn't be on the line, the club has had 20 ins-and-outs in the last 12 weeks and that doesn't include loan returns and out of contract players leaving. It's been a massive job, and the success of that will take a few years to really understand.
He should be judged on net improvement made to the senior squad by transfer dealings. I'm sorry but the squad hasn't seen net improvement from transfer activity in these 2 windows he has overseen.

He should be peddled tomorrow if we don't get the number 10 we need today.

3 is the target I think (2 x MF, 1 x CF) so I'll go three. Whether they'll be players we previously identified or those who just happen to be available is another question.

Wow, you could be right but Id be suprised if we sign anyone

Crumbs, I hate deadline day.
The window is only shut for 4 months, and a large chunk of that will be wiped out by the world cup.

I'm going to try to switch off all football-related news feeds until after 11.

We'll be dissapointed. You can't sign enough players to stop fans being disappointed.
Forest fans will feel they've had a bad window if they don't sign anyone today.

It’s like being stood on the deck of the titanic and cheering for the iceberg.

Bit dramatic.

Id be happy with a DM before the widow shuts but I would rather stick with the squad we have rather than overspend on dross. We should be there abouts with the squad we have now. If it clicks, we’ll have a good season. If it doesn’t, then we’ll be playing Championship football again next season.

We need some metal, pace and creativity in midfield. How we aren't linked with anyone is bizarre. Hopefully we are going under the radar to pull something out of the bag, but I can't see it. We are being linked with unknown foreign strikers who won't know the league, the club and maybe not even speak the lingo. Our transfer policy really does come across as pathetic sometimes.

I think our full season is dependent on today. We are so lacking within the squad that if we "go with what we've got" (As Wilder has said in quotes) then we might as well not bother.

I know the market has been all over the place this summer, but I can't believe it's come down to this and we're being linked with the names we are today (Windass, Surridge). A total anti climax and a real disappointment after Wilder has mentioned 'big names' and 'marquee' signings a few times.

I think some of the business we've done has been pretty baffling too. The signing of Hoppe confuses me more every single day, particularly since he isn't even making the matchday squads, never mind being close to playing. The fact that we spent £2/3m on him, yet look like we couldn't/wouldn't up our offer for Larsen (who we seemed completely set on) by that amount is so confusing. To then be calling Hoppe a 'development striker' at that price is criminal. We already have our own development striker in Coburn, who has shown more than enough promise to be in and around the squad this season.

We have no mf though we are playing defenders out of position
Mid game our squad is so short.

That’s what the iceberg line was a about.

We are completely bereft of mf options

What I find strange, after the Preston battering CW came out & said a few home truths he'd seen within the club, things will change, players will go, big signings, now we've brought in up to 13 players & not moved forward since the day after the Chelsea cup exit
