Wilder has consistently talked ***** throughout his career, only difference this time is he hasn’t backed it up with results.

Part of me bets he regrets that Preston post-match interview.
 
If Howson's injury is serious, and we haven't brought in a midfielder, my hopes for the season will plummet more than they have already.

No depth at all, shocking to leave it this late if we fail.

He is a player that we have to look to replace, not that i think he's not good enough, quite the opposite, no one can do for me what he does, he'll be a massive miss

I do admire the optimism, but our first 13 or 14 have so far produced 1 win in 7 league games, and currently have the leagues worst defensive record.

We are desperate for additions.

Definitely! If Tuesday night showed one thing it's that McNair can't fill that role. Certainly not against the top teams

I'm not as confident as you, not with our current midfield. In the games so far there's been too much constant pressure put on our defence as we have no decent ball winners in that midfield. I think we'll score plenty, but equally concede for fun if that issue isn't sorted. Vital few hours left to get someone in before the deadline, otherwise I think we'll be playing catch up all season like we did most of last season.

His role is a huge worry for me. I love Howson, but as fit as he keeps himself, age will inevitably catch up with him in the Championship and he will pick up niggles and injuries. We have no adequate replacement for him, as shown at Watford. That DM role is so critical to team, both from the covering aspect when the two outside CBs go forward, and for actually getting attacks started.

Agree with you there Gaz, on another thread I compared us to Bruce Riochs final season, one of the favourite to go up, a few signings a good home win v Wolves then hit & miss with relagtion a big possibility
 
I agree but it would be nice to have a few additions! Hopefully a mad rush later as it seems fairly quiet at the minute!

Looks like Onyeka is all but done, just waiting on the situation with Norgaard. If his injury proves to be a lengthy one they'll pull the plug.

The fact there is no other rumours or links suggests we aren't close to anything else, and if we do manage to bring someone in it will be a last minute panic signing.
 
I was always calm earlier in the window that we'd get these players in, not that I'm not calm now since I guess it is only footy after all but yeah, doesn't look like we'll be getting anyone else does it?

I didn't think we would blast a load of money on one player, didn't want us to either but I did believe we'd invest most if not all of what we had brought in this summer but it isn't even going to be close.
