I drive a 2008 ford focus which I bought 1 year old with 9000 miles on the clock for £8k, its currently on 96k miles and I've had to spend very little on it, maybe £200-500 a year last 2-3 years as a few things start to show age or need replacing. Girlfriend used to drive a BMW on lease but I eventually won her over and she no longer spends £350 a month on that so we put that into the home improvement fund instead. I drove it around a few times and beyond looking better, it didnt really handle any better or more enjoyably than my focus. I'd not be averse to buying a decent car though and I dont really begrudge others for what they spend money on and find it a bizarre way to call people out. Just because other people are struggling doesn't mean you have to drop your own hobbies, interests and likes, and not doing so doest mean you lack compassion or humility. You have no idea what people are doing with their time and resources.
