so what do most of us drive?

2002 Saab 9-3 convertable. Cheap as chips to buy. Lovely car.
I really miss my big old Truckasaurus though (Mistsubishi Delica L400). A fantastic old bus, load lugger that I could sleep in when filming in remote locations. Sadly she died when I was hit head on by someone on the wrong side of the road. Glad I was in her though ... she was a tank.
I love a SAAB, miss them.

Also love the fact some of them were made in Uusikaupunki. What a great name.

2014 Ford Kuga. I really like it. Comfortable drive, great big boot, stereo sounds decent, plenty of room and a high driving perspective. Cost about £11,000, two years ago. Previously had a 2010 Ford Focus. It had a few extras ; privacy glass, nice alloys, Bluetooth stereo, sat nav (which I never used). It was a great car though. Always flew through its MOT. Me, being me though, I ignored advice when buying and went for the 1.8L instead of the 1.6L. Got less than 30 mpg most of the time. I knew it was time to get something bigger when we went on holiday and the daughter ended up covered in our coats and shoes in the back. Not a problem with the boot space in the Kuga.

65 plate Vauxhall Astra.

About as boring a car as you can get, but it does the job.

Used to have a Focus. Now got a Golf. 2 years left on the payments then I'm going fully electric I think.
We don't do much driving these days anyways as we both walk to work.

I have a BMW 125D - its pokey and fun, and economical. I joined this board when I was 20, I'm now 37.

My priorities have change. (n)

63 Evoque which I will drive forever given low mileage these days.
Much like Evil, my priorities have changed.
Nothing like Evil I'm turning 58.

Seat Leon. Really nice car, great legroom inside if those at the front are under 5'11", big boot, plenty of toy options if you want them.
I will at some point get myself another old Volvo as I miss the seats, never mind all the other great things about them.

My lease has just ended on my Golf GTE. Fantastic car but I'm now without one (although it's still sat on my drive awaiting collection). Leaving it until I go back to the office to give me a few months off car payments.

Need a much bigger car now so looking at either an estate or an SUV type.

If family didn't all live so far away then there are incredible deals at the moment on the Jaguar I-Pace and Audi E-Tron but it would mean a stop on the way there and back of every trip which is a pain so looking for a hybrid or ICE.

hybrids are terrible for long journeys. Although I thought the iPace and the E-Tron had decent range?

edit: just checked the E-tron, it really doesn't have a great range at all.

The I-Pace does, the E-Tron I could get is the lower range one. I could get to family ok but they don't have a charger at their house so I couldn't charge it there. Means a stop on the way there or back (or both). Wouldn't bother me but 2 kids under 2 so would be too much of a hassle. From experience even the real world ranges they give are an over-estimation, especially if you have the heating or air-con on.

The infrastructure just isn't quite there yet for all electric. If our other car was bigger and it was our second car just for commutes etc I'd definitely get one but it's a bit too much of a luxury for that.

The Golf GTE was decent enough mpg on long drives and more than made up for it on the commute. The long drives are much less frequent than the commute obviously.

The Roubaix's are the balls. Let's see a pic Roofie
Drop you a pretty pic later.
The one I`ve got is the Roubaix Elite [2019] and I`ve replaced the stock Espoir Sport with Continental 4-season 28mm tyres.
Fitted Shimano R540 SL pedals.
Its got the "shock" in the head-tube which is absolutely amazing: as someone whose ridden thousands of miles and always double-taped drops, the amount of vibration is almost zero on the road.
Also find it grips the road and takes the potholes and bumps with an arrogance I`ve not experienced on a standard stiff carbon-frame bike.
I`ve always liked Specialized bikes, but this is the dogs ballox.
Its blood red with black lines - cables routed throughout.

They also estimate the range at optimal temperature. which it rarely is!

I can get changing in my apartment for free and charging at work for free so an electric car with a 300 mile + range (to cover the commute) is compelling to me I'd only ever have to pay for fuel when coming back up to the North East

My Golf GTE had a 30 mile electric range as per the onscreen estimate. My commute was 25 miles (20 motorway). I could just make it in the Spring with no heat/AC and driving 55mph on the motorway with quiet traffic so no need to slow down and speed up. Regular driving got me about 20m. Winter was about 12.

I moved just before lockdown. 12 miles but no motorway, all country lanes up and down hills and stop/start in traffic. I was getting home, just so could have no fuel costs for my commute if I still had it, just electric which is £1 to charge fuly at home. The all-electric could be free because I could do all my charging at work.

Wow, the Westfield must be a blast? On the right road, in the right weather!
I was flirting with an electric car before I started looking at sports cars. only really the Model 3 and the Polestar 2 fit into both my range and price requirements. the Tesla just looks so dull though and I worry about build quality.

The Westy is unreal, it's like 10x the grip/ handling of a normal car in the dry, but 1/10th of a normal car in the wet. 200HP and only weighs about 500kg, so that's like 400HP per tonne.

Yeah, that's the only thing about the Model 3, I'm just not sure if I like how it looks on the outside! Performance, tech, battery and handling are all meant to be great, but I'm just not sure on the looks. I think I need to got and drive one. There's a hell of a Tax benefit if I put it through my company too, as there's no benefit in kind on them I think.

I'm not really fussed on build quality, nearly every car is made to a good standard nowadays and I only really stick with cars in warranty.

A wee souped-up Renault Clio. Was an impulse buy, I must admit. I was on the rebound from my previous car, a Megane convertible. Loved that car but they'd stopped making them, didn't need anything that size anymore, saw this one and my eye was caught. It's ok but....

The bike looks great, is that all 105?
I like the sound of that shock in the head-tube, didn't know about that!

I've just sold my B'Twin Triban 500SE to a mate and was gonna upgrade to get a Canyon, but the wait times were crazy, in the end I found this, seemed an absolute bargain for £1,500.
