Interesting that the Leeds 'buy youth model' has yet to really pay off.
They spent millions on top young talents but I guess you never really know who is going to make it?
from Leeds forum
Watched a lot of him in the U21s where he stood out along with a few more, after their call ups, all have struggled, Sam isn't blessed with pace and is awful at backtracking, on the other hand, he's a dead ball specialist which we don't have .
Going out on loan would be the best thing for him imho.
He is a player that has never really stood out imho. He wont be a regular starter unless we have injuries, and all the talk about dead ball specialist ? I'm not sure i would use the word specialist, i haven't seen him produce many moments of class from his deliveries.
If he goes or even stays i wish him all the best though.
I think people forget how highly rated he was at Arsenal and it was a bit of a coup to get him. He'll improve with more first team games. He hasn't had a season elsewhere like Gelhardt and Summerville have.
His reputation as a dead ball player was well known before he arrived, specifically free kicks (all his YouTube things were full of them).
He had taken a few for the first team before today and it came to nothing.
Eventually he was always likely to do something from a set piece but even in the u21s his all round game wasn't particularly special.
Never stood out like Gelhardt did or Summerville or even Jack Clarke who made that level look easy.
He has looked nothing special in the 1st team till today. Every indication he would just fade into obscurity like many before him.
Hopefully his performance today gives him a lift and allows him to build.
