EV cars why are so many ugly SUVs

I guess it's tough. Oil companies are rich and they can pay the papers to spread them

I think the fact they sell people must like they way the look. I don’t think any car looks like anything, it’s a thing to get me from a to b

I would never by a new car due to immediate depreciation

I don't think people buy the for their looks. They buy them because they want a high driving position and think they are big. An estate car gives for better driving dynamics and more space.

It's very difficult to belive people buy them on looks when they are all so ugly

A lot of opinion there. I agree I think they are ugly , but I think lip fillers are too but plenty of people do it because they think it looks great

Given the world we live in. People either buy it because the like them or they think it’ll get them more status.

If you own a suv I’m more likely to think you’ll be a d*ck mind haha, quite the wild assumption from just owning a car I know haha

They are too heavy. acceleration is not that important to sports car drivers. Look at how well the mx5 sold. It's very slow but drives great. It's about how they handle.

This is true, to an extent. That being said mine handles pretty well and of course the acceleration is insane. It is also lighter than my previous ICE. Which had a massive diesel engine in the front whereas the tesla has batteries across the floor. This improves centre of gavrity and helps handling. Going to test drive an i4 m50 today which (I know this is an anti EV trope but in this case) is really heavy but I'm hopeful it'll handle ok, given its the closest you can get to an Electric M3

I have an RX8. Your car handles crap compared to mine ST, as does every other ev. It's also true that most ICE cars handle crap when compared to mine. Howeve in the context of the question I was answering, it's relevant.

On a different subject electric cars may be awful in many peoples eyes, mine included, they do save lives. 7 million people die every year from air polution. So the fact they are awful, is neither here nor there. Now I don't know how many lives would be saved by switching to an electric car, but it's difficult to argue when people are dying.

I did look at this a few weeks ago. CO2 in the atmosphere dropped by 5% during lockdown as cars and, I assume, factories lay dormant. I don't know if that saved lives and I know that EV's are not nuetral and they are not going to save the planet. However, they may save some lives.

Oh have you driven a model 3 performance then? I didn't realise. What did you think of it?

Also it would be interesting. Calling something "awful" is a very emotive statement. How do you draw your conclusions?

Couldnt agree more the duke is an awful car. I am not against ev's or even suvs i just think theres seems to be less and less choice and that some awful design choices have been made specifically with EV SUVs. For example take the volvo xc60 lovely looking suv but the new ev's from volvo look terrible in comparison and look like every other manufacturer.

Eye of the beholder I guess but the ex90 loose better IMO than the XC90 and most of the others are identical to their ICE equivalent? Which one don't you like? The xc40 is well the same as the xc40!

Never driven it ST. But I have driven the porsche TAG formula-e. It was pretty good, with one exception, which the test driver told me was a common issue on electric cars because of the way e-gen is set up. There is poor feedback through the streering and they tend to judder under heavy breaking.

The way I came to my conclusion that electric cars are awful is I have driven several electric cars and they were all awful to drive. As above steering felt vague and disconnected. The experience was poor, from a driving perspective.

Add on to this, and this is just a personal preferance, the cabins are, a bit stark and too much is controlled via the console, though I would say that about modern cars more generally.

I have an irrational dislike of the Nissan Duke too, albeit the new version is a big improvement on the first.

There's some really good looking cars being designed recently and after years of manufacturers playing it safe it seems that the opposite is true.
