You can't drive long road trips in an EV...

Nothing’s impossible, I used to bullseye womp rats in my T16 back home and they’re no bigger than 2 metres.

Looking to change our cars at the moment, both ICE, and there’s unbelievable deals on EV’s with work (the b*st*rds are up to something) but we have a 300 mile mainly motorway round trip to work, so until EV’s are doing 350-400 real world miles per charge then it’s a non starter for us.

A 300 mile trip to work! Is that every day? 😱

I did Liverpool and back in a day last week, which is roughly 300 mile round trip. The charging wasn't really an issue other than the expense of using a fast charger, but if I was at work I'd just plug it into a cheap slow charger during the day whilst at work.

Haha this is a classic. You may be telling the truth but It start with 200 mile round trips, then 300, and now 400. It's funny how everyone's round trips goes up as battery capacity goes up.

FYI the polestar 2 LRSM does 402 miles now, so you might want to increase your round trip length.

Apologies if you are actually telling the truth, just a daily 150 mile commute is extremely rare.

So your basically calling him a liar like you did with me and are offering a weak apology just incase he wasn't?

Seriously dude, you dig EV's, whatever, but stop the religious crusade against the the posters

Things you have mentioned that you do in an ICE also:
Stop, plug cable into the car, pay. So we can ignore them as not relevant.

So: no it is EXTREMELY rare to have to wait for a charger. I can't remember the last time I did.

And the final point. This is the bit I'm quite shocked isn't being grasped by people. No, we do not "wait 40 minutes". We park up, and then do whatever it is we were travelling to do. I honestly can't explain it any more clearly. What aren't you getting?
This isn't always true, at all. The reason for stopping is often to charge, not to visit a motorway service station. Last week I had to stop and plug the car in because I didn't have enough charge. I bought a coffee because I had to wait. It wasn't the other way around.

I regularly stop and give the kids some food instead of driving the extra hour to our destination because the car needs charging, not the other way around. If I was driving an ICE I wouldn't be stopping in those situations. I'd be driving the extra hour but stopping to charge necessitates me having to do something to pass the time while the car charges and eating a meal is about the only thing that passes the right amount of time.

Why do you refuse to accept that there are experiences that aren't the same as yours?

This entire thread has gone exactly how you planned it. It is ultimate troll behaviour.

I don’t do it daily, once maybe twice a week, I’m not going on manufacturers claimed miles I want one that you can cruise at motorway speeds with aircon etc etc. At home not a problem as the house has a three phase power supply as well so I could probably fit a powerful charging point.

He will be on asking for proof next

Do you have anywhere you can plug in whilst at work? I'd imagine you would save a fortune on fuel.

I wouldn’t have an electric vehicle given. ***** range, pish about charging and they look garbage.
Driven by the wealthy woke vegan brigade

First bit: yes I agree. But it doesn't really count as you have to stand by your vehicle in an ICE. You can do whatever it was you were doing anyway in your EV. Which has been my point all along and it's the one thing I don't understand why people can't grasp this concept.
The last sentence is incorrect twice. You have to go to a separate building to fuel an ICE. You will fuel your EV wherever you were going anyway (98% of the time your own house)
And no to the second bit too. By law all new EV charger have to accept contactless. The main way of paying for petrol is still to walk into a different building and queue to pay a cashier. Pay at pump is surprisingly rare
Agin Smalltown as I explained earlier my comments are in relation too a 2000 mile road trip not your daily use. So wind your neck in.
I paid for my fuel in France contractless, infact many petrol stations on the continent are now unmanned. They are also generally much cheaper.
I comment on these threads because I am interested to hear other peoples experiences, I have to say I feel yours are not always acurate..

Many Asda forecourt in UK are unmanned but according to ST, pay at pump is incredibly rare 🤡

Tell me you’ve got a job that doesnt pay enough to buy an EV, without telling me you’ve got a job that doesnt pay enough to buy an EV 😂
Nobody owns Electric vehicle. Everybody rents them.
I hate calling them EVs aswell. Creepy as **** like elon musk 😂
