X Box series X

wouldn’t recommend this personally unless you will only ever play gamepass games. Digital only games work well on pc but not that well on console especially at launch where prices are more than physical copies but without the benefit of being able to resell the game once done with it

I love last of us 2 but by time I want to replay it again it’ll be on psplus, paid £40 for it brand new on ps4 at launch; resold for £37 2 weeks later, spent about 25 hours in it for the grand total of £3. The digital version was £59.99 I think from memory
Yes I pick up all my games usually years after they've been released for around a tenner at cex so I'll be getting the disk version next year sometime.
The games I'm interested in - cyberpunk, ffvii and death stranding haven't even been released in next gen versions yet I don't think.

Was death stranding any good?

As someone that looked forward to cyberpunk for absolute years, I hope they’ve actually made it worth playing by the time you get around to it. Probably most disappointing game of the generation for me.

FF I believe does have a ps5 upgrade now

Yes Kojima games have always been criticised for being like playable movies. Apart from MGSV which was criticised for not having enough story. :D

I haven't played it, but being a fan of the MGS series and the whole Kojima aesthetic I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

One of the more disappointing games I've played recently was Ghost of Tsushima, just felt very repetitive and much of the open space was all the same. Gave up after a couple hours. Might go back in when the PS5 upgrade is out.

I haven't been able to get a PS5 or Xbox - not too fussed which one I get really. Also haven't been that bothered about not getting one as I feel currently I'd mainly be playing PS4 games on it.

Waste of money. It's essentially atiny upgrade on the Xbox One X. You'd either be best served buying the Xbox One X or saving s bit more for the series X
Agreed, I already have an X box one x so no need on a series s. The series x does seem to be a big boost though

Was death stranding any good?

I played around 15-20 hours of it. I got really into it at the start - mainly for the story and atmosphere. Graphically it is amazing and the soundtrack is equally good. There are some really weird game mechanics in it that you will definitely not have seen in other games so for that it deserves credit - even if they are bizarre!
I did lose my way with it though - I saw that a lot of people say that when you can start building roads at that point you are probably in it until the end. I got to that point, but I couldnt play for a couple of weeks and it wasnt pulling me back in after the layoff. I dont think I'll go back to it, but I am glad I played as much as I did.

Depends what you like and the 2 replies you have had don`t in my opinion do it justice

If you do decide to play then play it on the hardest level and play it offline........was a game changer for me after platinuming the game

God of War is phenominal and can`t wait for Ragnarok

Days Gone is pretty darn good

Also try the Witness if you want a mental stimulation

I should have said there were times I thought it was a master piece. I think if you do get into it, then you really get into it. Also, interested why you suggested playing it offline? The online "community" was one of the best parts in my opinion.

There’s a PS5 upgrade for Death Stranding coming out soon I think, might be worth waiting for that.

Read today that Back 4 Blood (sequel to Left 4 Dead) has a beta next week as well, looking forward to that releasing.

I am looking forward to Back 4 Blood (it's not a sequel to Left 4 Dead, more spiritual successor), but I have big question marks about Turtle Rock who make it. I played their last game, Evolve, which I really enjoyed. Admittedly it wasnt properly balanced before release, but it was a good idea and a different take on asymetric multiplayer. Being online only though it needed a player base and they killed that on day 1 by announcing DLC such as new characters you had to pay for. I have a fear Back 4 Blood will go down the same route. I hope I am wrong. Will definitely get on the beta.

Anyone lucky enough to get one of this?

I have a stock alert tracker. It's just pinged to say one is available at Amazon. I had it in my basket, then dropped out to check the price again and it then sold out. This thing is tough to buy!
I've the series S with a 120hz TV. It plays like a dream. I was into the flight sim today and it was amazing detail.

I saw somebody mentiom days gone, I have this in my library but never played it, how does it stack up to the last of us?

The startling thing for me about death stranding is how he released a game about a deserted world and the disconnect in modern society one month before the pandemic struck.
And then there's metal gear solid 2. When I played it in 2001 and got to the end I was kind of "what it's about control of information?" What a load of rubbish. They should be looking to destroy the world or something" It was revisited after the Cambridge Analytica scandal and people started realising that at the infancy of the online world he had pretty much predicted the way we behave online in 2020.

I do actually wonder whether he is from the future. He certainly on the same level as someone like kubrick. Here's a YouTube thing on the final codec conversation. I'd really recommend watching it if you're interested in that sort of thing.
