Womens World Cup 2023 in Oz and NZ

I think the Lionnesses tournament ends this Wednesday sadly. The Matildas will want it more and they have the momentum building perfectly. I think Aus may well be world champions In waiting. Hope I’m wrong of course.
The game with Australia will be very different to the games against Columbia and Nigeria. They won't defend as deep and they won't be as physical in their play or rigid in their tactics. I expect Hemp and Russo to have more space to run into, and for Walsh and Stanway to be able to see more of the ball, which is what we've been missing in previous games.

Remember that Nigeria beat Australia in the group stage. I think people are underestimating the kind of challenge that Nigeria and Columbia posed in this competition. England have just overcome two very tough teams. And done it while being down to 10 players in one game, and missing the most creative and skillful player in the other.

I think it's going to be a really tough game. But I just feel as though the challenge of Australia is a familiar challenge that England will be better suited to than the challenge of Nigeria and Columbia. It's going to be close though.

That doesn’t mean anything and no doubt they will practice.
Psychologically, it means a lot. Especially if they watched our last 4 penalties against Nigeria.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not underestimating Australia at all, they're a very good team and as I said, are the only team to have beaten Sarina Wiegman's England.

This morning’s semi will be a close one. Two evenly matched teams. Spain were hammered by Japan in the group stages but have looked good otherwise.

Sweden, surely.

Would mean that either England win the World Cup or a country that has never won it in the men's or women's game will win it.

I mean both teams will be out for revenge in the final either way, should they face England

Spain probably feel more aggrieved about the Euros, Sweden were just poor.

I actually thought Sweden had won the women‘s? Or were they just runners up?

EDIT: just checked and yes runners up in 2003.
