Womens World Cup 2023 in Oz and NZ

For anyone who enjoyed the World Cup and wants some more top level women's football to watch, the NWSL is free to watch at https://watch.nwslsoccer.com/home. As poor as the American's were in the World Cup, I've never seen a bad NWSL game, and Angel City FC have a lot of funding to bring top players over. England player Ebony Salmon (has played in a few qualifiers but didn't get in the WC squad) plays for Houston Dash and former England defender Casey Stoney manages San Diego Wave, who made the semi finals of the Play Offs last year.

Personally, I think it's a more balanced league than the WSL, where there's a real gap between the top teams (Chelsea, City, United, Arsenal) and the rest of the sides in the league. Plus, the season is already up and running with a few games coming up this weekend.
The WSL in this country suffers from the gulf in class between the teams. As supporters of Boro we can always live in hope we can meet and beat the top teams ( Spurs Man City and Man United in recent years) but supporters of lower clubs in the WSL rarely have that to look forward to.

Not sure that the Spanish FA president should have kissed the players after they won. There'll be some repercussions from that, I imagine.

Do you mean clubs outside of the WSL? It is a very steep drop from lower WSL to Championship, and even steeper from Championship to WNL. They only connected the WSL and Championship to the rest of the pyramid a few years ago, too.

There's still some upsets though. Durham (Championship) beat Man Utd in the Continental Cup on penalties last year, and they gave Villa a pretty good game I the FA Cup too. Durham/United was a really good game with Durham equalising very late on to take it to penalties. That is very rare though. And lower WSL teams do occasionally take points from teams higher up.

It's more the spectical of the games between lower clubs and clubs higher in the division. They're usually competitive and sometimes teams manage to scrape draws or wins, but the games in the NWSL are all pretty open because the teams are all pretty close in quality. Probably due to the way the league is managed (Franchise system similar to the MLS).
