Will Lankshear

You'd think he' more of a 'project'. That said Scott did say we are not going after prem youngsters to improve then lose. So probably some truth in a perm or option to buy.
Is it just a loan? He's very highly thought of at spurs. You would think they would only loan, with him being such a high prospect, within 3 years he could be a flop worth 500k or the next Harry Kane worth 100m, so having an agreement to buy right now seems unlikely.

How big will he be when he stops growing?! Him and Josh would terrorise defences with Latte number 10.

At least when Leeds fans sing “Yorkshire, Yorkshire”we can sing “Lankshear, Lankshear”. (y)

Here's one I've seen

Lankshears on fire...
You're defence is terrified if lankshears on fire .....
Etc.etx
Sign him...I'm singing that

Everything I'm reading suggests it's a loan - but spurs aren't completely ruling out selling him - so possibly a loan with an option to buy (the kind of loans we like - Greenwood, Ayling, O'Brien)

would like that, but surely if they rate him so high, we would have to be making a massive bid for them to think it's worth it.

Loan with a conditional option/commitment to buy? Eg we commit to pay a significant fee if we get promoted, otherwise he goes back. Southampton had this last season with their loanee from City.

Didn’t Scott specifically say we’re done with loaning young players where’s there’s no option to sign at the end of the loan.

Even if we keep Coburn....Lath, Coburn and Lankshear would still leave us very light up front.

We'd still need someone a little more experienced to go with Lath
We play one up front! All these players cost money. If you have four players for each position your first xi is going to be garbage as there won't be enough money to pay the wage of a quality player, as it's going on four mediocre ones.

You also stifle the development of the academy. Our academy has developed a number of outstanding talents. Tav and hackney being the latest. Room has to be left to allow academy graduates to step into the team.

Josh is good enough and was in good form prior to his injury. Bringing him into the team halted our poor opening and led to a run of victory's.

And then there's the question of how many good players are going to want to join the Boro to be third or fourth choice striker anyway.

Totally agree with this.

People always talk about strength in depth and 2 equally good players for every position.

But we only have so much budget on the wage front… so you can have 2 equal ability players on £12k a week, or a better quality first teamer on £20k and a backup player on £5-10k

Obviously in an ideal world you sign a young backup player on £8k a week who eventually develops into being just as good as your first teamer

We have Forss and a few young lads coming through who play up front. If we want the likes of Finch and Matthews to progress we can’t be putting 5 players in their path to the first team.

I’d be up for it if it’s a loan with an option to buy if promoted. As good as he may be I don’t really want to be developing other teams players. I’d much rather take a punt on another Latte Lath kind of signing and keep developing Coburn and Forss.

He’ll probably sign tomorrow now 🙃

Maybe so.

But if Latte Lath picks up an injury, ruling him out for a month or 2 (or god forbid longer) - similar to what happened this season, are you seriously happy pinning your hopes on a couple of kids, or Forss making the step up as a #9 ?

That's a very big risk to take.

Three strikers ( plus 1 from the under 21 /23 ) seems appropriate for what would be close to 55 games in a season with cup runs.
It's probably the only position where you don't want the starter to finish ( playing 4 2 3 1 )

Teams that go up, have this.

Also you can't shift things to 3 5 2 without the options available.

He definitely looks physically capable of champ football.. he looks a unit
