Will Lankshear

His stats seem good but doesn't seem like a loan signing we would make unless there was an option to buy. I think after Archer, Ramsey and Giles the club will be reluctant to loan players who if they have a good season with us are out of our price range. The season just gone we went for players we could of realistically signed if we wanted to and/or had a set fee in place if we did want to sign them(Greenwood). The indication in the previous two windows is we have changed our approach to loans.

I could see us going for 1 loan player of the quality and experience of someone like Diallo or Liam Delap if we think it would make the difference between promotion and not. I don't really see the rationale for loaning someone like Lankshear who would take at least 1/2 a season to get up to speed. Maybe if we had an option to buy at a pre-agreed price.

Diallo would be brilliant and exactly the calibre of loan signing we should be looking at. A difference maker.

I dunno why people keep scoffing at loaning players and "developing other clubs players" like we don't still benefit if they do well, and like loaning young prospects from bigger clubs further up the chain hasn't been a big, important part of transfer business in the EFL for decades.

If they flourish here we benefit, irrespective of whether we get to keep them.

I'd rather keep the loans for 1 of three reasons.

1.Absolutely quality we think will be the difference between promotion and playoffs (ideally only 1 of these)

2. Young with a pre agreed option to buy (Any number of these)

3. Stop gap option to cover an injury in January. (1-2 of these)

That is similar to my feeling in regards to loans. Also if we get towards the end of the transfer window and we are short of a player in a certain position then loan somebody in or when we get to January and we are in a position where we need that little bit of extra quality to take us to the next level and finish the season in the promotion spots then I agree with loans, but as an initial signing at the start of the window with a player not proven in men's football then it doesn't really make much sense and I would rather the club look at other options first.

A player who's constantly linked. So clearly some truth. He seems to be one we've had our eye on for a while.

You'd think he' more of a 'project'. That said Scott did say we are not going after prem youngsters to improve then lose. So probably some truth in a perm or option to buy.

I've not seen anything of him. He looks very similar in size and stature to Coburn. So it would be interesting to see what we would do with Josh ? I mean Coburn is far further down the line interms of experience and development than lankshear.

He's scored plenty at U23 level (Prem 2). Yet frankly doesn't mean anything. I'm sure Gilbert had a similar season at Brentford.

Definitely fits the 'model'. I'm loving this buying relatively young players. They have a bit about them and a point to prove. It's far better than signing 'has beens' after a payday. That's not meaning Ayling who was class 😂💪
