Which computer game did you waste your youth on?

Yep, all mentioned already, but Chuckie Egg, Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy and Jetpac on the Spectrum and Defender, Asteroids, Moon Cresta, Daley Thompsons's Decathlon, Elevator Action and that Star Wars game where you sat in the cabinet in the arcades at Redcar.

Incidentally, the very first arcade game I ever played was in the bar at Teesside Airport as a kid (Space Wars I believe?) and the first time I ever played Space Invaders was when Crow's Fair came to Eston Rec in the late 70s.

Mostly on the ZX Spectrum - Elite took up most of my time, i used to love flying between space stations trading in weapons and narcotics.......it took up way too much of my evenings. When I wanted a break Skool Daze & Back to skool were amongst my favourites. In fact i think that getting Skool Daze from the Game shop on Linthiorpe road was one of the first games I bought with my paper round money and my first trip into Boro on my own from Ormesby, I ended up on the wrong bus back and had to get off on Marton road and run all the way from Stewarts park to make it back in time for my evening round.

Of course Sensible Soccer is king...but i also wasted years on the original Championship Manager (90-91 season?) I also has the Italia version, which i think was the 92-93 season...

Prior to having an Amiga... i played Football Director on the Spectrum... I felt like i was the only person in the world with that game... Middlesbrough were on it, but were spelt wrong...
I had Football Director too, it was a nightmare to succeed on it. As soon as you won a couple of games it put it onto a harder level. Think reaching the lower reaches of Division 1 was the best I did.

Also loved Tracksuit Manager where you managed the England team, no action, just rolling text of the matches.

I spent hours and hours playing Football Director, took ages to load... you could eat your tea and it still wouldn’t have loaded.
Also Tracksuit Manager and Striker, happy days

Yeah it took ages to load. I also had trouble saving it and reloading...So i think Division 3 was about as high as i went.

Then Championship Manager and Geoff Crammond F1 on the Amiga.

I once bunked off school all day spent the whole day on my mates Atari I played pac man non stop without losing a single life for 18 hours straight only had to stop because his mother started kicking off.
I also got a right bolloc**g for coming home at half 3 in the morning too 😬

I can well understand, at 12 years old out that late, crazy parenting 😁

I know right I just couldn’t see what the problem was I was convinced I had earned a place in the Guinness book of records at the time but by the end of the 1 week confined to my bedroom I had forgotten all about it 🤣

Was a big fan of Jet Set Willy and Attic Attack on the Spectrum.
Once I got my C64 I spent far too much time on the Jeff Minter Llamasoft games, Daley Thompson's Decathlon and Uridium.
Elite went on whatever it would run on :D
In the arcades I was usually found on Tempest, Defender and latterly Gauntlet.
On the original PS I was a huge fan of the Tekken, WipeOut, FIFA and Resident Evil games.
On PC the only game I really got into was Quake 3, which I still have on my laptop even now.
