What has Farage got on this government

Coutts /NatWest boss has apologised To Farage.

Given The Government own over a third of Nat West still I wouldn’t be surprised if Sunak has “had a word” with their Board. All part of his culture wars stoking to massage Farage’s ego.

He was booted out because he has views against the values of the bank - wasn’t anything to do with wealth in the end.

The report Farage cited said that they don’t recommend keeping his account when his assets fall below the required levels in July. Which is entirely their perogative.

Everyone deserves to have a bank account regardless of their political views

This is an issue beyond one individual

It's a privileged account, he has access to normal accounts like everyone.

It's entirely the banks perogative to keep customers who fall below their clear requirements to hold an account. They decided they didn't want to retain Farage once he fell below those requirements.

Many banks have wealth accounts with minimum required assess and/or deposits.

What has happene

What has happened is that he has got hold somehow of an internal memo from their accounts committee which talked about closing his account because his values didn’t equate to the banks. Whether it was a rogue employee going beyond his or her remit the Bank is still sticking with the criteria reasons for closing his account despite that memo for which they have apologised

Farage is making the most of this. Not surprisingly.

The bank took control of a situation. They showed sovereignty. They... Wait. That can't be simultaneously right and wrong, can it?

My understanding is the bank wrote he "meets the EC [economic contribution] criteria for commercial retention”

To be honest this is the sort of ridiculous discussion I expect remainers to be having, absolute tedius non story

Brexit clearly fried alot of people's brains

No he didn't, it's in the report I linked above, the apology letter also reiterated that he could still have a bank account with Natwest.

It is amusing though, you commenting on something that is apparently a non story, then conflating it with Brexit just because it involves Nigel Farage. Your brain must be fried.

The irony that is clearly lost on you however, is that this is a case of a sovereign business choosing to follow it's own rules, then being publicly flogged by the same people who demanded said freedom of business.

The plan here is to keep this story going when the three by-election results come in or if, by some miracle, the tories win a couple, to forget about it immediately.

Who really gives a ****?
I mean why the hell is this the main news?! Is there nothing more significant happening in the world right now?

Apart from a mob of culture war stoking, thicko manipulating, RW contrarian shock jocks and gobshites on social media, stirring it all up, who the **** else gives a ****?
These absolute balloons are getting more and more of a grip on our media and what becomes ‘news’.

Meanwhile, Johnson’s phone, Sunak’s Tata links, (and repeated questions about his failure to declare conflicts of interests) etc.
Not a dickie bird in the ‘Main’ news.
Just good old man of the people, anti-establishment, normal bloke Nigel Farage and his Coutts bank account.

For what?

Nigel plays the only role he’s the master of. The victim. Tory mp’s kick off…Sunak told he should do something. Gov owns 39% of Nat West. Sunak tells the lady from the bank to apologise. Job done, the greased pig slides away. Again.
