Carrick seemed out of ideas today. 1tiny glimmer of hope. O'brien.
Poor today but I don't agree that we can't create, I thought we created lots of excellent chances (and have done all season) but we're just blunt up top. It's a massive worry.I know it’s early but we are. This has all the hallmarks of a relegation side once again. Worse than anything under Wilder at the beginning of last season. We can’t defend, we are overrun in midfield and we have no goal threat.
He was one of the only bright sparks for us today.Greenwood is ****
the most sensible post in this threadI think the main problem is that Carrick is trying to play the same way we did last season when we simply don't have the players to do it now. It's as simple as that really - he either changes the way we play or we'll carry on getting beat most games
Smith is awfulWe've sold one player (Akpom) and lost one loan player (Giles) from the team that had us in the top 4 in January but we look a hundred miles away from then
Forss and Smith are big misses, the sooner they're back in the side the better.
Carrick can get this back on track but it's going to take some doing as the confidence dips
We've signed too many players of a similar position and standard. Rogers, Gilbert, Silvera, Greenwood to supplement McGree, Jones, Crooks and Forss.
That's 8 creative attacking players but only two young strikers Absolute madness.
Yet he picks the team, he stands there and watches Howson and Hackney get over run every week and does absolutely nothing other than like for like subs.Second balls are just given away. I don't belive Carrick wants or will accept that.
The love and over reliance on Hackney is strange. If he wasn’t local he’d be getting pelters.Yet he picks the team, he stands there and watches Howson and Hackney get over run every week and does absolutely nothing other than like for like subs.
Weird that.
You could argue that there is too much responsibility on young shoulders. Hopefully, O’Brien will take a bit of it off him.The love and over reliance on Hackney is strange. If he wasn’t local he’d be getting pelters.
Yeah he was poor today, but I think anyone would have been how we are set up. It worked last season because Akpom held on to the ball under pressure from one or two, rolled them and released it wide to Giles or Forss who had a free run to get a ball in, plus we had Archer occupying a centre half and his pace or movement worried them. The love and over reliance on Hackney is strange. Now, it never sticks, none of the front four hold or carry the ball and bring another player into play. It bounces off them or they lose it dwelling on the ball or running down blind alleys. This is really easy to snuff out and then get on the front foot and overload the fragile H&H midfield partnership.
We either need new or better forwards, which we can't get, or to a change of formation that gives us an extra body in the middle.
I'd really consider 3-4-3. as we have no great fullbacks or 4-3-3, we have gaping weaknesses with players who are pretty poor. Doing the same thing every week and just expecting it to click somehow is idiocy. I like Carrick and I'm still behind him. But the last four (well fifteen probably) games simply aren't good enough.
We're better than this.
Since Luton away, pretty much every shot on target has been a goal, we look weak and easily shrugged off the ball, we've never won the battle in midfield, we lack creativity, our set plays have been more horrendous than normal (which is a pretty low bar), our subs do little to change the game, they are like for like around sixty minutes, the players on the field, manager and coaches look disinterested, low intensity/don't care. There's no passion, spark, creativity, fight. We're dogshight at the moment, the players should be hurting, even if the quality isn't there I'd expect wounded pride seeing us getting a few petulant yellows for clattering opposition players taking the **** time wasting etc.
But there's absolutely nothing, no fight, no aggression, no passion, no spirit, no taking one for the team. Just nothing, we are an overly nice, small, weak team, full of absolute fannies who must be an absolute joy to play against.
If you are an opposition team coming up against us what have you got to worry about? Our pace? Our aggression? Our big lads overloading you? Our set pieces? Our nasty, niggly midfielder snapping into tackles? Our shithousery players using the dark arts to win free kicks and get you booked?
Nope, absolutely nothing, stay in shape for twenty minutes (or less usually) we'll huff and puff but not really create anything then concede the first shot and target and it's game over, while our manager does absolutely nothing to change the pattern of the game.
I'm phooking sick of them.
Roll on the Saints, pressure off expected to lose. We'll probably beat them. But until that mentally is eradicated we're never going to get anywhere.
I really wish it wasn't Rico.Great post
Absolutely, I think we are in real trouble here. I get the feeling it is purely blind hope we can start getting results, rather than a genuine belief it will click. As someone said above, we haven’t had a tough run of fixtures yet either. This is shaping up to be a very long and poor season. Relegation is a VERY real threat as we just simply do not have the quality in the squad.
It really isn't a great post. Caesium has made personal statements about the playing and coaching staff.Great post
That’s exactly it. We are just hoping that things will start to click with these players and I just can’t see it right now. They are simply not good enough.Absolutely, I think we are in real trouble here. I get the feeling it is purely blind hope we can start getting results, rather than a genuine belief it will click.
Personal statements? Get a grip.It really isn't a great post. Caesium has made personal statements about the playing and coaching staff.
