Warnock’s comments on potential signings

The signing side of the club seems a bit detached from the playing side of the club and it been a bit like that since Southgate.

Ref Payero he played for Argentina at the WC - he shouldn't be a rabbit in the headlights etc

Not WC, olympics but I get your point.

Hardly being fair on the lad.

he is 22 and has played for one club apart form 1 season on loan.

he has played three games at an Olympics with no crowd…

give him a chance to find his feet ffs

Not enjoying watching the Boro at the minute they look short of ideas going forward hope Neil can get them up the pitch quicker and add a bit more creativity. If a DOF is there to assess and assist players to join the club then Neil should be onboard. I heard Bolasie put a word in about Sporar when he was at Sporting though so this Dutch lad must be the work of the DOF, if there is conflict this won't end well in future signings.

Add in comments about Olusanya..."if it doesn't work out it's all my fault." Sounds like splits behind the scenes.

My concern with Payero is that if we are relying just on Leo Percovich and Google translate app then it's not really the way we should be treating an asset. Where is the player liaison officer?

Tav is only 70% fit.... when he is consistancy on song we are a better team and hopefully watmore is not long term

I consider myself a decent judge of character and I simply can't get a handle on Warnock and what he says. He swings from one day to the next at times so I've found myself placing very little importance on anything he says lately.
Agree with that.

“From the continent” is a funny way to phrase it. To be fair to Neil he’s probably talking about young developmental projects rather than any player from the continent, because, I mean come on, Bruno Fernandes is from the continent and it took him about 3 touches to be one of the best players in the Premier League. It’s not 1997, most teams have 8 out of 11 players from abroad.

It’s a strange comment to make and not a great look for potential signings. Weird as well, as Neil’s getting plenty of his own signings along with the DoF ones and I don’t think he’s stupid enough to go to war with his own chairman and recruitment team, as there’s only one winner there. Suspect it’s just him being emotional and prickly straight after a match though, and maybe digging his heels in for more players.

I've never thought for a minute that Payero was 'his signing'. I think we know the type the gaffer likes. It's usually champo proven and a bit of physicality.

You'd look at Crooks and Uche and say he signed both. You can kind of get what he's saying. We could have spent 4mil on Payero and he's not remotely ready.

I have a feeling these foreign targets are very much down to Scott and the new approach. I thought it was strange that he was joining after the transfer window closed. I'm not having it that he's joining and not given a few targets that maybe Norwich identified. They did alright on the 'continental' market.

I can maybe see a bit of an issue. I doubt the gaffer is a longterm project and probably set in his ways. So the recruitment of a sporting director could be interesting behind the scenes. He said 'it's the way the club wants to go'. So definitely nothing to do with him.

That said it's a transfer policy that most clubs do. You see clubs signing players without a manager. You just think 'how can they sign a player not knowing what style they will play' etc.

You regularly see prem mangers saying they have no idea about a new player and often say they have never seen him play in the flesh.

So it's not 'new' just something Warnock probably isn't keen on. I think there's definitely a bit of a split. He seems to he highlighting 'his signings'. Also said the other day that he had a couple of frees that didn't have good stats that he wants to gamble on.

The proof will he in how much they play. To be honest I'm more excited by Van Bergan than Payero. He looks quick and direct and we'd look good with Jones on one side and him on the other.

It's pure speculation on my part but maybe he wanted Hoilett or a player he knows and we've said 'we've found a younger lad in Holland'. So he doesn't know anything about him.

Club seems to be making plans fir the future. Warnockk by his own admission isnt going to be part of that as manager at least and he sounds like he's got the hump about having to manage players that arent his.

The “from the continent” quote for me seems like he’s talking about players who have missed preseason with the club. We all know when Juninho came he wasn’t at his best until the season after - that’s not to say he wasn’t good that first season. However, I think he’s just saying it can take a while to catch up which can disrupt the team and I think we are lacking in Championship nouse and shithousery in the squad. We need another experienced head in. He obviously wants players to make an impact now.
Everything else he says should just go over your head.

I thought other day he waa being over excited over mr T the non league lad. Saying to steve 'can i have a go with him' ...i took that as a slight against steve having a go with south american players. I think payero is not really a warnock type signing. Think he pished off steve spends big money on his fancy foreign players and he gets non league or cheap / free journeymen.

It does appear that there is some tension between NW and the club in terms of recruitment. He was lukewarm about Scott's impending appointment, has been less than enthusiastic about some of the 'clubs' signings and made the point that some of the signings are his picks.

Which is fine as long as he doesn't favour his own picks over the ones the club recommended, but it rarely ever works out like that, as we've seen with Karanka.

Also, I'm sure that Scott will have only had a passive involvement in any of these signings, at most, given he's still a Norwich City employee.

It feels natural to me that cracks are apparently beginning to show, due to the tension of a manager in his last season and the club needing to plan for the future, I never thought we would be a promotion chasing club this year (hope I’m wrong) but really I just hope we hang on ok

Reading some of these comments… I mean it could all be true, or it could be that people are reading way too much into things? I genuinely don’t know but I’m not getting some of the ‘vibes’ others are.

After listening to his comments I thought he was p****d off about there being a problem with sporar deal after saying there wasnt at yesterday's press. Kinda like throwing his toys out the pram because he was out the loop on that one and his remark about the Dutch kid meaning the deal is nothing to do with him because the recruitment team dont tell him anything about what is going on, rather than it being a dig at the player.

I'm sure Warnock isnt that stubborn that he would refuse to use a player because he didnt personally recruit him if he was performing. You dont get promoted 9 times by being that petty.
not playing Payero though is he
