Virgin Media Increases

I haven't heard anything from Virgin regarding increases but I have Volt and got a text from O2 stating their prices are increasing by 13.4%RPI rate of inflation plus 3.9% as set out in their terms and conditions.

This reminds me .. When I bought my Virgin Contract, they knew I was looking for a new phone as well at the time and offered me an o2 sim-only deal with the same terms I was on with GiffGaff but unlimited data for both texts, calls/internet data

I turned it down but they sent me it out anyway, and it was incorrect, double the price I agreed with the agent. Sent it back to their HQ explaining the error and got an apology - six months down the line I get a notification on my credit file that I had not paid o2 for six months and they'd terminated the deal with a £200+ fine. This will now remain on my file for ages and obviously, my rating plummets as a result

They sent another apology back to me as well as £50 to apologize for the mess it created on my file, said they have recalled the debt from the collector and have fixed it .. though I hope they are being snappy about it ... as not sure how long it is going to stay there on my file showing me in debt, despite the notice of correction I submitted to Equifax, it does not appear it is shifting. Not happy about that as it is in rough shape as it is and I am trying to fix it.

This could be a good thing for me to bring up when I contact Virgin to discuss concerns with the increases as I have effectively already had to pay an unnecessary price, despite their otherwise decent service, but once again I am about to start paying a lot more which seems beyond a joke .. pressure them into fixing me a better deal or I will leave them for another provider?:ROFLMAO:. What do the experts on here think .. ?? Is it worth trying or is it pointless .. they have got me pinned down and I will get nowhere in trying to get a better rate??

EE are putting my phone bill up 14%. That's including the CPI increase which I agreed to when signing up for the contract.
Is there any way I can get out of the contract without paying off the left over amount as 10% rise that I didn't agree to doesn't sit right with me.
EE prices are ridiculously high upto 100 pound a month in some cases

The sooner an alternative BB option becomes available in my area, I’m bailing on Virgin. I’m now on the waiting list for YouFibre.

Last year my bill with full package etc. went from £85 to £160.

I forgot my package had expired and didn’t get the email as they’d recorded my new email incorrectly from my last conversation with them. I got a whacking and backdated first DD once it expired. When speaking with retentions the deals they offered were crap.

I reduced my package to freeview, BB, and a landline I don’t use! But you can’t get rid of that as it costs you more! (Mental!). I replaced it with IPTV for £50 for the year. Class service and won’t go back. So I now have multi room on multiple fire sticks for a one off payment.

The latest increase means I’ll go from £60 a month to £70. £15 less than what I used to pay for everything.

You need to make another complaint about the credit report issue. Address it to the CEO by name and make sure you demand reasonable compensation considering they have not only damaged your credit score but failed to correct the error despite promising to do so. Tell them it has prevented you from taking out a new mortgage and rates are now higher which will cost you more. Tell them you’ll take it to the Ombudsman if they offer less than £500 and follow through with it if they don’t. If it’s anything like the banking industry, there’s no way they will side with Virgin if it’s happened the way you explained.

Yeah this, I had a similar thing with ee and their credit team got it sorted within a week as I discovered it while applying for a mortgage

virgin doesn't have price rises in their T&C's so you can ask to be released from your contract

If you're in a youfibre area give me a holler as they're doing a few months free of 1gb up/down for £30 a month with no price rises and a referral gets you an extra 2 months free

If not, use it to negotiate a lower contract or actually leave and go elsewhere
Do youfibre put a new cable from pavement to house or use existing cable from virgin?

New cable but if you have had bt phone or Broadband they will tend to bring it through that duct. They were very good with me I told the guy I wanted the external box which drills into your home next to my virgin entry point and they obliged with no problem.

CityFibre as pointed out by TFG are installing in Boro and I hope they have this ready to go by the end of the year

Just reading through my contract it looks like my bill is locked in till the end of the year

There is no way on this earth I am paying £63 a month (guessing £70+ after the increase) for just 500 Broadband from then on

Are there any broadband providers out there that provide a monthly contract to bridge the gap until CityFibre are up and running......City Fibre say Phase 2 will be finished by 2025 and Boro is in Phase 1 so hoping they are either already up and running by the end of the year or a couple of months in to 2024

I didn`t think I had Norman but checking back through emails it seems I have.....got my email from them on the 14th Feb.

Might be worth double checking as it looks like we have the same Volt contract

It’s already up and running in a lot of areas around Boro. Have you tried putting your postcode into the website to see if it’s available where you are? If not, you can enter your details and they will let you know as soon as it is.

It depends on each area and house. For most of Stockton they will be using existing openreach ducting - virgin media are taking the same approach in their infill work in Ingleby - we had terrible Broadband for 4 years and then within 3 weeks we had both virgin and youfibre pull cables through to the manholes in the street

After ordering youfibre they came and pulled the cables from the manhole through the same openreach duct and then drilled a hole, so no digging but in some areas it's telegraph poles or other methods. Imagine most people will be openreach ducting though - either way should be no need to dig up drives and gardens etc

You don't need to wait. You can get them to buy you out and they swap every month you have with sky for one with youfibre, for £1 a month. Plus extra month for being referred by an existing user, so you'd get 5 months for £4 as it stands. Feel free to drop me a PM if you want the sales team details as they sort all that out for you

If you need broadband for work, get work to pay for it. They are saving a shed load because you don't go to the office.

My Virgin Media broadband price has increased which means I can now leave without incurring any early exit fees, and I am going to switch to YouFibre. Would I be best to sign up with YouFibre and then cancel Virgin, or vice versa?

Cheers.

Most people working from home are also saving a shedload because they're not going into the office. Saves me about £300 a month.
My company pay for mine. The difference in cost is magics company to personal. I save about a grand a month. Still they pay for connectivity and gas and electricity if I want to claim it.
