Villa bid for Morgan Rogers

I missed this last night. Utterly bizarre for a player who was a freebie, and who has shown flashes of talent but is still finding his feet at Championship level and would only have been on the fringes of our team had it not been for injuries.

I just don't get it.

I quite like what I have seen from Rodgers in patches only. But when McGree is back, does Rodgers even get into the team?
I'm with you on this one, I don't get the buzz around this kid and certainly not the money that is being talked about. Barring setting up the Forss goal, against Millwall he was poor and I think I was slating him throughout the game for continually making the wrong choices.

Wonder what these bids are. Be interesting to see the numbers offered so far. Feels like it will run and run then he will leave deadline day
If he does go, it will be an undisclosed amount, as always. Unless Villa made it public of course, but I get the feeling we always request that.

Its immaterial at the minute though, as he's still our player and if we are serious about us wanting £15m, I don't think he'll be going anywhere in the next 12 days.

Someone said this to me yesterday when I was talking about this that I found quite funny, and probably rubbish, but funny nonetheless.
I heard a weird story from someone at villa that emery falls in love with random players in the championship and L1 quite often, and they have to talk him out of asking the club to bid for ephron mason-clarke etc.

The lads got bags of potential but he's so sloppy at times. I can't see a PL player in him at at the moment.
If we got 10mil+ I'd be stunned and would be great business.

He does make the wrong choice but he is only young and these mistakes will peter out as he improves which he without doubt will.
Villa have certainly seen something in the lad.

Thats hard ball by the club 👌
I suspect the club have a listed value for each player that they would accept, agree by all the top staff, and that is reviewed frequently, maybe every quarter. They will also have a set of 3 or 4 replacement targets listed for each of those players should they leave.

If Villa hit the sale point, then he'll be sold, but it won't be in the ball park of those first two offers. If he does go, the club will know the kind of outlay required to replace and players that could be available. If we can't get enough money for two players in, then he won't be sold. The offers mooted are fairly derisory in the modern game.

They have obviously seen something in him that I and many others haven't. I can't believe the silly money that's been mentioned on here for him and think he's a bang average footballer. He's only in our starting eleven due to injuries.

When people discuss Archer and Ramsey, people aren't really thinking about the reason they were sold. In an ideal world they would've loaned the pair out but they needed to raise funds for FFP and as they were homegrown they were pure profit for Villa so helped on that front. They still like the players and that's why they have buy back terms in their favour. If rumours are to be believed if Sheff Utd go down it's likely Archer ends up back at Villa next season. But they can spread his transfer fee over his new contract. So they get the player back and still benefited from the room to manoeuvre in the transfer market that they had last summer.

Tell Villa to float and keep him, we wont be able to build anything at this rate.
We`ve been on the bare bones with injuries this season too.

We have given a taste and he has done OK and gaining experience, he will improve and his value will increase. I think we might miss out this season but he needs to have a team good enough from the off next season, one thats improved and gained experience. Also if we do go up we need to survive there.

Rogers is class. That is why Villa are interested.
