Vile ‘Paedo’ chants.

Very poor from Sunderland fans, they are the only one's who sing this these days, even Leeds don't sing it.
They drink around town without any trouble these days, let's not go back to the dark old days.
Leeds fans certainly do sing it. Sad to say.
Singing on mass targeting Michael Carrick.

But unfortunately I have heard Boro fans doing the same thing too many times on our travels. Even at friendly matches.

I know that there were numerous charges following last season's Chelsea games, around rent boy chants. Education played a big part afterwards. These chants started so long ago many are now unaware of exactly what they are about or who they are targeting. Now, I hear so many people calling others paedo these days, have people forgotten quite what this means.

Elon Musk probably let his mask slip for the first time when he labelled the rescuers of the Thai football team paedos. He argued (successfully) in a court room that it was accepted slang in South Africa. Is the word accepted as banter by far too many in UK these days. Do we need to remind them what the word means?

Not so much about a chant and sorry to go a bit off topic but…..

You probably all know I’m gay.

Two rows behind me in the East Upper last night was a very loud Mr Angry. Who didn’t have a good word for anyone.

He called Roberts a faggot and Edmonson a poof.

Stupid thing to get annoyed about I know but I really wanted to punch the fella. All this Riverside by Side stuff. Does it work?

Like I say sorry to go off topic

The Sunderland fans* set it going with their usual version of pig bag.
Response from the south stand was something unintelligible about seagulls.

“Pigbag” was a repeated a little later by the Sunderland fans*.
The south stand fans* responded with the Adam Johnson song.

*I’m not suggesting it was all of either sets of fans singing it, but nor was it a tiny minority.
A fairly similar amount of whoppers from each club would be my rough estimate.

sounds shyt to hear homophobic language like that.. no idea what you could do or say other than to direct the daft chunts anger towards that little rat faced rat Dan Neil

Roberts shouldn’t have been getting any abuse imo homophobic or otherwise.. he did his best for us.. wanted to stay and scored at least one important goal to keep us up.

Homephobic insults are a weird one.. because in order for them to come about.. in this case a guy.. he would have to be thinking of of the players in questions willies and them playing with other guys willies and bums to even muster up the concept of the angry tirade.

anyway.. sorry some whopper pished you off at the game.. on top of the two own goals.

der der der der.. four hooks a seagull

not really the best retort on the game if terrace panto insult battle.

we just need to be much more clever than them.. that’ll teach them.

It makes them look like stupid idiots *******. I literally couldn’t give a damn and nobody around me reacts to it. My son who is 16 doesn’t even know why they do it. Just think they’re even more scum than usual.

I have said before, but Mackem away fans and those on the alternative universe Ready to Go are not a reflection of the whole support. I have worked with some great people who happen to be Sunderland fans.

I’ve calmed down from last night and well past it now.

Bloke was an utter tool from the off. Wasn’t just that to be honest. Anytime Edmonson touched the ball he went off on one about DaelFry. Utter gobsh1te.

of course the faggot poof “banter” it plays to the stereotype that being gay equals weak and effeminate.
yeh it’s an odd take. Newy being newy. That’s all.

What were they singing though mate, not word for word obviously but I honestly didn't hear anything. I was near the corner flag though so a bit away from it.
Part of it was directed in the Portsmouth lad in the parka who they'd singled out.

It's definitely not a tiny minority whenever they come to the Riverside. A lad filmed a vlog of our game last season and loads around him were joining in. He even joined in himself at one stage. Usually they sing those songs before, during and after the game.

I will be honest it didn't seem as bad last night. Their alternative version of pigbag could be heard loudly and clearly after they'd equalised but that aside I didn't hear any more chants. A few idiots in a minibus had their windows wound down and shouted over "stop sh***ing your kids" and I was very tempted to put my hot cup of tea to good use.

I actually thought their fans were really quiet until they'd equalised, but maybe that was because of how loud our own fans were, and I was sat in the north stand.

I drove to game and on my usual route the police stopped the cars alongside police HQ as they escorted the Sunderland fans to the ground. All they were singing was peadophile songs and that was an hour before the game.

I sit in the north and honestly thought the Sunderland fans were very quiet except when they went 2-1 up for about 5 minutes. Didn’t hear many songs so can’t comment on the above but as a few have said our fans can be bad also. It’s an education for us all. We should just focus on songs about our own time and forget the opposing sides.

Its
Not off topic at all-
Offensive moronic chanting

ok thanks I thought it was off topic cos it wasn’t chanting, it was just one moronic fog horn.

Who, frankly, for the whole 90 mins was utterly tedious.

Think my point was - all this riverside by side stuff they put on the big screen etc. Never gonna work is it ?

Yeah, I'm also in the north stand and was shocked at how quiet they seemed to be. I wasn't sure whether it was just that they were being drowned out or not by the Boro fans but it looked to me as though they weren't even attempting to sing. Found that strange considering it was a massive game for them, because even if they do try and play the fixture down, it was still a game they needed to win to keep up the pace with the top 2 teams.

Might just be me but they don't seem to sing "We hate Boro" these days either. Probably daren't sing it now in case we get the wrong idea and think we might be seen as a relevance to them.
