Vile ‘Paedo’ chants.

ok thanks I thought it was off topic cos it wasn’t chanting, it was just one moronic fog horn.

Who, frankly, for the whole 90 mins was utterly tedious.

Think my point was - all this riverside by side stuff they put on the big screen etc. Never gonna work is it ?
As far as I can see it’s reportable to the club and authorities, kick homophobia out!

Not so much about a chant and sorry to go a bit off topic but…..

You probably all know I’m gay.

Two rows behind me in the East Upper last night was a very loud Mr Angry. Who didn’t have a good word for anyone.

He called Roberts a faggot and Edmonson a poof.

Stupid thing to get annoyed about I know but I really wanted to punch the fella. All this Riverside by Side stuff. Does it work?

Like I say sorry to go off topic
Do report it. It will be taken seriously and investigated.

The text line for anonymous reporting of hate crimes at home matches is
The text line for reporting discrimination to Middlesbrough Football Club (MFC) is 07340 718965.

I just checked and a quick google search brought up the text number.
The club are presently exploring different ways to make this number visible at all games. So that when a fan hears something thar needs reporting they have the number at hand.

Must have been having a senior moment because I was puzzled as to why the hell our fans were singing about former Cabinet Minister Alan Johnson.

Wasn’t it in response to Adam Johnson he’s one of your own?

Football terrace panto.. nothing more.
No it's not panto. They sang it in town, they sang it on the way to the ground surrounded by coppers. I was only surprised that when I called them filthy mackem c**t's (and I don't say that word often) in response that the coppers didn't say something to me. The trauma ruined and continues to affect people's lives and is no different from chants about Hillsborough, kids dying of cancer, so Sunderland should know better after they experienced it with Bradley Lowery. While I didn't think the Adam Johnson chants are the same, they are if that girls family are there or even watching on TV. So Boro fans need to stop singing that sh it as well.

It's not just one song / chan't. Paedo's, what's it like to....., get your to ti tts out for your dad (sang at an underage girl), and there are others, all sung while surrounded by the police. All it takes is a copper on a megaphone to say anymore and we take you back to the station, or even better, anymore and we're fuc king off and you can make your own way up to the ground. They won't be shouting it then.

It's not the same. I'm not offended or angry at any football 'bantz' relating to being a smoggy, a small town in Yorkshire or any contained swears. Getting called a baldly bas tard whatever. If fans in general were chanting 'paedos' it's not nice but again wouldn't have any meaning. But when it's based on events such as the cleveland child abuse scandal and Adam Johnson raping a minor it's completely wrong.

yeah.. it’s all bad tho innit.. who decides where the line should be drawn.. and then does the line keep getting drawn further and further back?

words can be hurtful and in bad taste.. it gets a bit wavy when words become criminalised.. and only for certain sections of society.

So on the basis of your reply I fired off an email to them earlier in the week.

Just had a call from the club safety officer. Obviously it’s difficult to prove but they will take action. So thanks.

No different to singing about jimmy saville which always pops its head up when we play Leeds which is also not right btw
