you said it was a tech issue, it isn't, you can show your vaccine passport to someone with a camera phone who could validate it with an app. The issue is the cost of having enough staff to validate before the turnstiles.

Sounds easy but so does sending out tickets electronically , and we can't manage that .

What an absolute waste of time this is.

All of us who are vaccinated can get the pass, then spend time at the ground having it checked.

Any anti-vaxxers who want to go to the match can just order some LFTs, get the barcode and report a negative without even doing a test.

Can anyone tell me what benefit this brings?

Because nothing will work 100% but the majority will do the right thing if asked.

This adds absolutely nothing other than a load more hassle for people doing the right thing.

Maybe 5% of people wear masks on the concourse yet if you go into a supermarket its probably nearer 80%. I can only imagine the discrepancy is down to whether people are asked to wear a mask or not.

It's not the mask compliance bit I'm talking about really.

It's the Covid passport to gain access to places.

Acceptance of a negative lateral flow test result (which isn't even evidence of having taken a test) is such a massive loophole in the system that means anyone not vaccinated can still gain access to places that require a so called 'covid passport'. All they have to do is scan the barcode and report a negative result. Then hey presto they are in.

It's a half-hearted measure, and as I said right at the start, a waste of time.

I understand what you are saying, my point about the masks is that if people were actually required to wear them then most if not all would do so. Some people will cheat the lateral flow test but others will take one -because they have been asked- and some of those will be positive without being aware they were. It probably is half- hearted but better than nothing?

Exactly right. It's just pointless when you register your own LF test result on the NHS site. I bet there'll be people who don't take the test, or even test positive that report a negative test and go to the game anyway.

Better than nothing yes. But a huge loophole that doesn't really get to the root of the problem in my view. I think we're agreeing.

I believe you can get a paper one from the NHS. Or you could set an account up for him on the app and get one that way.

Yes, we had ours sent to us before travelling.

The people who actually do the lateral flows are the only ones in the ground who will actually know they haven't got it, anyone with the vaccine could easily have covid and give it to others as the jab(s) do not stop you spreading.

All of this is a bit pointless, isn't it.
