But not the club crest.

No it’s not.
I think what you find is that despite someone saying on a earlier post that I would be in a very small minority regarding the blue lion that there is actually a healthy % who have voted for it.
Is the red lion the present club crest yes it is, but at some point there was a swap over from the blue lion and people got used to it.
It be the same if we reverted back to the blue lion, people would get used to it, especially as it was the original club crest , it's not a random change , there is history behind it. The 150 years is a big deal for me, I was aware of the 100 years when it happened, but I was young and not a proper supporter in my attitude. I am now and would like that whatever the club does it's well thought out , represents our history and can be an emblem for the future. Supporters saying it has to be that or this , misses the point it doesn't, there might be several ways of presenting the club crest, for different moments and situations,, the thread on Cambridge Uniteds crest change .'https://fmttmboro.com/index.php?threads/cambridge-united-new-crest-process.60180/ highlights how clever the process can be and it can be several things ,representing many aspects of the club and the town, red lion - yes, as well as the blue lion.
I have to say if the club offered a really good crest and it got accepted I probably be happy, but that doesn't mean in our three shirt options all have to have the red lion or blue lion, the club might offer us the option to mix it up on different shirts. It's not like someone has to hand paint the club crests, they are printed by machines which can be done very quickly and altered as needed.

Red Lion on a white background.
White Lion on a red background.

Fair enough. A one off 150th anniversary badge could well use elements of the old crest. But I think we are doing a new badge for the foreseeable which I personally think should be red and white as we play are the traditional opposite to a blue team

Within my questionnaire response under additional comments I stated that, in my opinion, the red lion in its current guise should be a non-negotiable for inclusive in any future design. It is unmistakably Middlesbrough FC.

traditionally, the Lion has always been Blue - its the crest of Robert De Brus - who took ownership in and of Cleveland.

That is such a top crest.

It's funny how people think basically the same but in different directions. Ii think I said the crest should represent our history and the blue lion is such a big part of our formation and our original kit that with 150!years coming up we really should celebrate it with something unmistakably Boro but also old and original at the same time ( if there was such a thing and there is - the Blue Lion).

Did you want the riverside to have blue seats??

🤷🏻‍♂️ Could t care less , but I suppose it was dig so it didn't really want a serious answer.

Have a look at the Blackburn crest it is a red rose with a green stalk, they hint to the club colours in the blue ring around it,. Same for sheff Utd they have the crossed blades which are white with a black surrounding background, with a red ring around that.
Both very distinctive, accurate and unmistakably the clubs colours.

They haven't compromised their history to just try and copy the shirt colours, you add the club colours to the badge or crest quite easily without altering your focal emblem.

Well going by your logic, Blackburn should go back to a blue star or some bees as the red rose didn’t appear until the 1974.

Oh and Sheffield United should go back to two blokes and some haystacks and no red or white as their red circle and blades badge is from 1977.

Our kits having a red lion on them appears to have more history than your two examples.

The two present day crests are still supporting the idea that they can have the club colours on the circle around the emblem and if anything the crests can be changed even after a 100 year, even if those two teams have a strong history with several trophies won with it.
Your attached to the red lion because nothing else has been offered to you, and when it is you reject it even with the blue lion , which isn't a contrived emblem.
