It's gotta to be this, the 3 ships would be a good badge but just having the transporter makes it really significant to the club, especially as you can see the bridge from the ground.
Other badges need a little explaining like the Mackem badge but when you see this one, you just know what it is and who.
The only change I would offer is the Lion change to a Blue Lion as in keeping with the De Brus heraldic crest.

I read somewhere that a lot of clubs have simplified their badges in recent years for branding and marketing purposes especially online. They all want instant brand recognition with minimal text and symbolism to compete with the likes of Nike, Apple and McDonald’s.

mobile phones innit.. complex logos do not translate well to a small screen

Interesting results so far. Could be used to give the club a snapshot of the fans opinions (FMTTM board at least) for the next fan forum?

This is a difficult one. The small number of people (and it is a small number in the scheme of things) that care deeply and are voicing their opinions, are outnumbered by the majority who are largely ambivalent, and whilst they might have a dislike of the "new" badge, they don't dislike it enough to voice an opinion or provide any kind of feedback to the club via feedback surveys etc.

Just to be clear, the new badge is dogshyte, but the lack of consultation and the club pretending that there was widespread consultation and fan input is what pi$$es me off more.

We sorted our badge out in 1986.. job done
Newcastle United who always had a terrible badge sorted theirs out in 1988.. jealous much?
Sunderland's badge was fine.. infact it was really good.. but they wanted to be more like the geordies so they changed theirs in 1997
Leeds United.. never got it right.. was crap.. still is crap.. they nearly changed it to incredibly crap.
