Two players left, Who?

Two big questions for me:

1. We will sign another forward, but will it be a technical player like Larsen who can score but more importnatly create opportunity for himself, space for others, and deliver balls to a partner OR will it be a physical focal point to bully CBs. It's a brain vs brawn decision

2. Do we get a CDM on loan from the prem such as Ampadu or do we look at another McGree style, a creative 8. Someone that runs with the ball, commits players and offers a goal threat, i.e. someone like Elliot Anderson who is 8th choice midfielder at Newcastle and unlikely to get game time. Do we tighten the defence to protect from the counter attack, or do we expand our creativity in central midfield to fight against the packed defences we saw at Reading.

I don't have an answer or personal choice....well being greedy I'd want both of those midfielders and both of them forwards, but that isn't going to happen
When I have seen Larsen he does have good vision and technical aspects to his game but I do think he has strength to hold off big defenders. I am not sure why I prefer him to Riis but I see him as being more physical and would compliment our other forwards. Midfield is the conundrum for me. Howson is good at what he does. He seems to be quite reactionary to the game situation whereas we probably need a player being more pro active and on the front foot, if that makes sense. Goodness knows who that would be as the good ones will be in the prem.

Ross Barkley - doing nothing at the moment and may need a new challenge - could be our new Merson - sorry Newey if I am treading on your toes here!!

He's probably on about £120k/week! He'll end up back at Everton or somewhere like Fulham, or Villa again.

CDM is a crucial position to fill in a 3 man midfield, especially the way we play. I am trying to remember last season at home if any opposition midfielder ran the show. The standout was the £50m Loftus Cheek for me. Harrison Reed didn’t really run the show but was a good spoiler and kept Fulham going.

So, you think we are gonna sign 7 players this week?
I think we will sign more than 2 more and I expect some whealing and dealing . CW is not a happy man ATM , he obviously was talking about certain players when he made the comments.
Boyd Munce , Coburn and maybe more out on loan , Watmore and possibly a couple more sold , so they would get replaced . We shall see . ,

The numbers of strikers we have doesn't add up for me. We have 7 with the expected new addition and Muniz, Hoppe, Akpom, Watmore, Forss and Coburn.

Coburn will likely leave on loan, but that would still leave 6. Will we really have 6 strikers, when we are only playing one or two?

Surely another will leave, so its either Watmore or Akpom? Given Akpom seems to have redeemed himself and Watmore is getting plenty of minutes its hard to see what happens. As much as Hoppe and Forss are "projects", we have paid decent money for them and they will be involved with the first team.

Its a nice problem for Wilder to have, but I still don't see how having 6 strikers in the first team squad will work.
It adds up as two of them will be gone, if that happens. Coburns going out on loan, Wilder's said it a few times, and the other one to go would be Akpom or Watmore. We know what Watmore can do, and what he can't do, it's probably not good enough for a promotion XI, but good enough for a promotion squad doing 30 mins here or there when we need that option. Akpom is more of an unknown quantity, if he can replicate what he's done in his last couple of games and keep chipping in goals, then he can offer more than Watmore. Picking one of the two would be a risk at the minute, we need more time and games with Chuba to figure him out.

I think you've proved my point that it doesn't really add up.

It will add up to 5, we will have 7 and two will be out the door. We won't be keeping 6.

The problem is picking the last one out, but it's a good problem to have. Think Chuba's only got a year left, so that could influence the decision.

Exactly. Wilder has said Akpom is staying (as it stands) and Watmore has had a lot of minutes and played well (apart from missing a couple of sitters).

As others have said, there has apparently been interest in both, but at the minute I can't see either leaving.

They won't go now as we only have 6-1=5, best thing to do is keep tight-lipped on the 5 available, Wilders words will change if a big name comes in.

Ampadu plus Larsen . We don’t seem To be linked to that many now . If Larsen doesn’t happen there’s Riis and archer seen the next best options but archer would unlikely be a permanent one . Permanent options would be more important

Although necessary, too much talk and energy has been taken up with transfers. We need a win on Saturday (and hopefully play well) followed by a decent performance against Watford. Then once the window closes, hopefully things will settle down. If not, all this transfer talk won’t improve the overall feeling around club which is quite negative atm.

Whose energy ?
I suspect the players are just getting on with things
