As for Hydroxychloroquine, it's madness to reject this drug because Trump talked about it. Trump mentioned it because of a highly successful French trial. It's part of the standard protocol for Covid-19 in China, and in New York, doctors are taking the drug to avoid developing Covid-19. US doctors prescribe it to people with moderate symptoms to try to avoid severe disease with some success - though all anecdotal until the trials are complete.

The drug isn't just used for malaria. It's also used for arthritis and lupus - i.e. it's an anti-inflammatory. Inflammation is in part what causes ARDS in Covid-19 patients. I'd already read about the drug before Trump mentioned it, and would be happy to give the drug a try should a doctor recommend it. Like any drug it isn't for everyone.

In addition to A_M's response to this rubbish, the resultant shortage of the drug has meant those normally taking it can't get it.

Lets not beat about the bush, he isn’t very intelligent. He’s a bullshitter but people seem to lap it up.

He has been afforded opportunity by birth not by ability.
 
Yes he's thick, but we all know that.

But his electorate are even thicker. To them, he's a genius.

And that's why they keep voting for him, in droves.

That's all he's bothered about, so don't expect him to change tack any time soon.

To be fair you can imagine he does, what with the tweeting, the golf, casual racism and misogynistic statements, running a business empire - being a world leader is surely low down in his list of priorities.

Like understanding that an antibiotic won’t be affective against a virus or somehow imagining that a virus has cognitive function.
 
The dumb old duffer is on the podium defending his actions, having a go at Pelosi and Biden and repeating the "Wuhan Virus" line. He's even produced a video to back himself up o_O
