Travers

Travers is an excellent keeper, head and shoulders above recent keepers.
If Bournemouth are open to selling him then let's go for it.
We have been let down by inferior keepers for many seasons, it's like a revolving door, he's a great age as well.
Let's go get him....
I cannot understand how anyone thinks he is head and shoulders over Brynn based on their time this season (he's played a couple of games more than Brynn)

Definitely decent, but i think Brynn backed by Dieng and Glover has us covered in goal.

Unfortunately for dieng he’s proven over quite a period that his form has just not been up to scratch. Although I’m not sure he’s had a clean sheet yet, I would say Travers has made numerous really important saves for us already, saves I might not have expected Dieng to make.

Slightly different take, but according to Wikipedia Brynn is 6'0 and Travers 6'3". Not sure I believe that - Brynn looks a couple of inches taller at least!
We've had this discussion before. The 6'0" figure is clearly from old data that hasn't been updated. There are pictures showing him standing next to other players who are 6' or more and he is several inches taller than they are.

Adam Thompson, who is third from the left in this photo, is 6'1", for example.

According to wiki, Sol is 6'0", Seny is 6'4" and Rav is 6'3".

Moral of the story: don't believe everything you read on wiki.

ah yes, that's right.. one play in one game with a less than favourable result. totally shyte, non league pub player, sack the manager, full clear out.. start from scratch.. no way we could compete in the champions league with any of those players ever to what on earth was steve gibson thinking from his secret batcave... everybody out!!
Great reply, as silly as saying he was absolutely superb for us, he's played 6 games this season, conceded 3 Vs Sheff Wed, 3 Vs Plymouth, 5 Vs Stoke....

But don't let your home grown blinkers get in the way of saying he's been 'genuinely class'.

A decent enough keeper maybe, but still has a look to prove at this level.

Travers is levels above atm.

I haven’t said anything silly what so ever.. ever.

A couple of good saves tonight but his distribution is little to get excited about his short to medium stuff is ok but anything longer is a lottery where it will land.

Makes me appreciate what a gem we have in Sol Brynn
I think he wasn't in the mood for excitable crowds and players to hoy it or boot it to the runner, yeah he's not the best at punting a ball where he needs it. He`s not bad and would have liked to have kept him but I prefer Brynn.

I still find Travers unconvincing. His distribution isn't great and quite often his saves/parries are put back in front of goal rather than away to the side. I don't think he dominates the area particularly.

If I was spending the money I'd pass on buying him (assuming that's an option)

It was his shakiest display for us yesterday I thought. Still think he’d be an excellent signing though and one of the best keepers in the division.

I imagine he’ll cost quite a bit. I’d be tempted to still give Sol Brynn a chance in pre season to make the position his own, and divert the funds where it’s more needed and replace the clowns we’ve had in defence all season.

Why is Dieng suddenly absolutely garbage?

He had a bit of a mare earlier this season but on the whole, i think he's been very good for us.

Pretty sure at one point everyone was giving him the "best since randolph" tag.

Definitely was getting that tag until at least Leeds at home this time last year, when he did make a mistake.

I'm still not sure on what went on with Dieng. Lots of rumours, but was anything confirmed?

Travers has clearly played well. The question for me is does he improve the team enough to justify the outlay, or could the team be improved more by spending on other aspects of the team? Without knowing what he would cost, it's impossible to say.

Brynn let in
10 goals in 6 league appearances
5 goals in 1 EFL cup game
So 15 conceded in 7 games .
Travers gets my vote if we can do a deal.
Brynn 2nd choice .
Sell Glover and Dieng .

Travers is an excellent shot stopper but has two weaknesses. One, he is poor in the air. He doesn’t come for crosses which means our defenders are often working in the six yard box. He doesn’t catch, unlike Brynn, and his punching is only average. Two, by modern standards his passing is not good enough with too many aimless long balls. This season’s statistics for successful passing. Brynn 80%, Dieng 76%, Travers 58%.
