What staggers me is that Tories actually get offended when the home truths come out. Unless they are straggerinly ignorant they must KNOW Tories hate the working people? Their contempt and disgust for working people, their constant attacks on them are painfully obvious. Yet tories get offended when this is pointed out? I don't get it. By all means chose selfishness and anti humanity but don't get upset when people point it out

He wound people up good and proper on the old board after the Brexit vote and in the years following. Now he simply has no response in defence of his vote other than he's entitled to it.

He doesn't recognise that the economy is significantly worse off due to Brexit.

You never see him comment on 12 years of Tory austerity. Or wonder why there are now more foodbanks than MacDonalds. Or why the rich get richer while everyone else suffers

He never comments on nurses and other NHS workers who as a last resort are striking in a desperate attempt to raise their living standards. He will have stood on his doorstep and clapped them however.

If I'm honest I couldn't give two fvcks about him or whether he makes his break from the board permanent or not.

Knowing what's happened to this country since 2010 and the pain to be inflicted on working class for years to come, anyone from this area in particular who votes Tory and who has a modicum of intelligence can fvck right off.

Staggering result and I find it hard to understand why anyone in this area would currently vote Conservative, and as I've said it's beyond my comprehension how anyone can think the Conservatives are the answer I don't think it's right to call voters scum.

I feel as angry as anyone about the political direction the Conservative Party have taken us in and abhor their dishonesty, corruption and lies, and whilst some of their representatives are truly awful individuals I'm not interested in calling Conservative voters names, I'm interested in changing Conservative voters minds.

I can't honestly believe that people would still prefer a Tory candidate after all they have put the country through.

Libs took enough votes that could have been Labour if they were serious about the unofficial anti Tory position they wang on about as long as its Labour stepping back.

What is it with that Council that Independents do so well? Seems to be a clown car crash ran authority with Inds running it looking in from the outside.

Tories always have a better ground game in getting Postal votes sorted and sent in. Anyone any idea of the number of postal votes sent in vs walk ups?

You're a better man than I am @American_Mary. I think I'm usually quite fair and reasonable and I try my hardest to be, but sometimes my fruatration gets the better of me and I use terms I ordinarily wouldn't.

However, there is so much evidence out there that the policies of the Tory party are disgusting and they dont even hide it.

I no longer buy the gullible and naive Tory voter the way I used to. The amount of evidence is staggering and its no longer even hidden or disguised. Of course there will be some who have very little understanding or knowledge of politics who will put their cross next to a Tory in the voting booth.

However, I find it remarkably frustrating that in the midst of a cost of living crisis, a flood of Tory scandals, millions of people striking and millions in poverty unable to provide food and warmth for their families that 37% still voted for the perpertrators, especially given that we live in one of the poorest areas of Europe.

I know local elections are different to a GE and work very differently. However, they are still representative of the Tory party and am dismayed that so many still vote for them in spite of them being the most disgusting and reprehensible party since Dickensian times.

I live and socialise in Normanby and hear what people talk about politically. Brexit and good old fashioned racism played a sizeable part in this result, I'm sad to say.

I’ve lived in Eston for 25 years and the regeneration of the square as rumbled on for years. Sure I heard the other day R&C council have a black hole of £10 million so that’s the end of the baths with Berwick Hills, Stokesley and Redcar close by anyway. Why the lights in Normanby could be redesigned the volume of traffic is the major problem and will only change if the proposed slipways onto the Parkway are built again not likely.

The last version of MBCs housing plan that I read suggested that building houses that increased traffic on the parkway wasn't a problem because Low Lane, Eston and Normanby Roads could take up the slack.

not sure if it is such a surprise UKIP got 29% of the vote last time which I assumed split the tory vote so why wouldn't the UKIP'ers now vote for another extreme right wing party or return to them, also the two independents getting 20% of the vote cannot of helped
