Tories win local election in Normanby

Staggering result and I find it hard to understand why anyone in this area would currently vote Conservative, and as I've said it's beyond my comprehension how anyone can think the Conservatives are the answer I don't think it's right to call voters scum.

I feel as angry as anyone about the political direction the Conservative Party have taken us in and abhor their dishonesty, corruption and lies, and whilst some of their representatives are truly awful individuals I'm not interested in calling Conservative voters names, I'm interested in changing Conservative voters minds.
The only difficulty with that is, if people haven't changed their minds by now after what they tories have been putting people through, their open corruption, lack of morals and the country's international standing, then I can't see what anyone could do to help change minds.

The chap that won, won with only 7% of the electorate. What's more concerning in this election is despite the considerable effort Labour could only get 6% of the electorate out to for for it's representative.
You're in the business Ian. What do you think was the reason for the very low turnout?

There wasn't considerable effort from Labour and a fair bit more effort was put in by the Tories. I'd never seen our MP, except in the press and he's been up our way three times recently.

You really are ridiculous. You're often shown up for your stupid views, so unwilling to believe you could simply be very stupid you pretend there's some sort of clique out to get you.
Hang on. The clique is real, right? That's what HarryVegas told me. Did I go through all of that forn nothing? He still hasn't given me that sodding badge.

The problem with local elections is every single one of them has turned into party politics on a nationwide scale. Most of the posts in this thread are the perfect example.

Paul Salvin may have a wrong opinion on the countries issues, but political affiliation aside, he's Eston born and might be the right man for Normanby on a local scale. Who knows.

I was certainly getting lots of communication from the Party about this election, sadly personal circumstances meant I wasn’t able to get out this time. 22nd of December also would’ve been a huge hurdle.

They are not out to get me they just pile on anything that they don’t agree with. Here’s an example:

You called me all sorts the other week f img and blinding at me called me a mofo. Boro fur has said on this post someone can f right off and there is your post about scum. Pretty poor behaviour all round.Moderators don’t bat an eyelid or turn up in a day or so & claim no not to have seen it. Yet if I ever did anything remotely like that I would be on the naughty step. If that’s the way it so be it but don’t ever claim it doesn’t exist wee gord.

Called you out as a troll the other week. I have no idea why I'm even typing this. You're either Cooper or his twin.

That’s what I mean people have different opinions but then get called trolls by others on here or schills or whatever else.

I could call you all sorts with your weird brand of humour but I choose not to. It’s only a message board at the end of the day!

While that is true in normal times anyone who continues to support the party in its current form, in my opinion (obviously) must have, at best, questionable morals and or very flawed judgement.

If you're putting yourself up as a Tory councillor you can't plead ignorance, you must know exactly what is going on and are therefore you're saying you're happy to go along with it and even defend it.

Regardless of what he may or may not do for the area, the fact he's happy to represent the party he is representing is a massive red flag. Or at least it should be.

Character matters. Or at least it does to me. Clearly not to everyone given some of the turds who keep getting elected as MPs.

It only exists in the mind of you and a handful of others. You got worked up about a couple of swear words when you couldn't raise so much as a word of support for striking millions, people who can't afford to live, all because it might inconvenience you.

Instead of getting angry at the root cause, or showing any sort of support towards millions who can't afford food or warmth you got angry at those suffering.

Your assertions about a clique are as ridiculous as they are untrue. A better correlation might be those who you think are in a clique are simply much more socially responsible and caring than you are.

It is only a message board. That's something that we can agree on. You seem like a decent fella when you're not talking about politics.

Clique? Have you heard yourself?
I think that's the problem with some Tory shills. They actually can't comprehend how disgusting their party acts. (Which is a worrying reflection of their own morality) so they assume when people point out how bad they are it's a "clique" ganging up on them and not just decent people

The only words he raised on the subject of strikers is how it made his own Christmas harder. Not that I'm suggesting he's selfish and self centered

I agree you can't plead ignorance and character does matter, but what you're describing is voting for a candidate based completely on the party they're in, which is just party politics...

If everyone had that view, local councillors wouldn't need to do anything for the local area at all; they'd just need to be "a member of a party", and constituents would vote for them, if they wanted the leader of that party to run the country.
