Tories Existential Crisis looming

Whilst i'm over the moon about this coming for the Tories....and they deserve all they get after the Brexit fiasco and what they have dumped on all of us for a generation over Brexit and extra costs as a result of all the lies.....

But something fascinating has happened on a number of fronts....

1, The boundary changes for this election has weakened their stronghold seats - on top of that - the unpopularity of the Tories means they have also lost votes from 'soft' Tories who swing to Labour or Lib Dem depending on the country's mood (not their own strength of mind)

2, So, the Tories have lost a lot of traditional soft Tories and also losing the ex Labour (mugs) who voted Brexit but dont have a strong opinion about Brexit - but still voted for it. The other Labour voters who do feel strongly about Brexit are voting for Reform - not Labour or Tory (as in 2019)

So, the Tories are losing voters from their milder Tories, more traditional non-radical voters, they are losing the radical voters to Reform and the boundary changes make lots of safe seats vulnerable as Labour gains popularity.

Brexit was a radical move for normally 'conservative' folk....The Tories have moved further to the radical right (Rwanda, hard Brexit, threats to leave human rights institutions etc..)
They have too many MPs not allowing them to move back to the 'centre' because of their now seemingly radical membership (wherever they have merged from!)

They could very well get pummelled in the election because of these factors and how do they recover ?
People want balance....Brexit doesn't offer that - nor does Brexit offer anything other than pain with higher prices and hassle trading & travelling to the EU - as well as contributing to inflation as people to fill jobs cant be found now that 'freedom of movement' has finished...

people demanding higher wages with a short pool of people...higher wages - higher prices - baked in inflation....

I'm expecting Labour to do something fairly radical with the EU to bring some balance and sense back to the table with trade....(they must do so cleverly by pointing out the positives to the thick english electorate)

But the goods news is the Tories are getting exactly what they deserve after inflicting such an extreme Brexit and the bad luck of a pandemic all whilst they underfunded the NHS and other vital public services - schools, the courts, local government funding..etc...etc...

Annihilation is coming soon....

The only problem is that Labour are not up to much and they could be just as bad.
No, They are keeping their powder dry....until they win (that's what I believe) then they will be doing the opposite of the Tories and pulling corporate UK into line (water companies etc...) making life fairer for people BUT THEY MUST ADVERTISE WHAT THEY ARE DOING to the people of the country - making their lives easier - (like they did with things like sure start etc...building communities and the opposite of what the Tories do) because the English electorate (the majority) are essentially thick and easily manipulated.

It's true. I'm a right F ***wit.

I'm a swing voter... calling people " ex Labour (mugs) who voted Brexit" and "thick english electorate" as the OP did.. doesn't exactly win votes - but it's an interesting strategy

I wish they would, but I think it's unlikely. They don't want to make this election about brexit, it's the last thing they want. They will reluctantly continue. Maybe in 5 years they'll campaign to rejoin the single market. by then another 15% of the racist colonial loving dinosaurs will have gone to meet their maker, and the figures will be approaching 60% pro EU, it'll still probably be a touch too early to rejoin though, it would probably take a third Labour term to do that, or, ironically the little c conservatives making that a manifesto pledge in in 2034

I don't think he's trying to win votes, just establish the current climate.

Yep, we will probably get back to a similar situation we were in pre brexit(much worse position of course as we won't be in a position to create the rules) in terms of single market access and free movement of people and goods within the next 10 or 15 years but it won't be done in a brejoin referendum. It will be done in a series of individual agreements that the vast majority of red faced shouty brexit loons won't notice.

Then, once the vast majority of them are no longer here it might be possible to discuss the EU openly.

Wow, how did you know I was going to demand a triple wage increase in my annual review with my manager at 3pm today?

There's only 3 of us doing the work of 14 at the moment. I'm on 24/7 on-call support every week in three at the moment.

Must admit I thought like this too.

Then some barsteward did some research and published the data.
No party who has got into power has been significantly more radical than their manifesto.

Even Blair admits he got his first term badly wrong and could have been more bold.
He, like every other leader has one main objective once elected. It's never said out loud, of course, but they want to get re elected.

Look what Starmer has had to do and say (or not do and say) to get to this position. If he wants to get re elected.... it is likely to be 'steady as she goes'
