To everyone who wanted us to take the money for Latte Lath in January

If the club thought there was a good chance of promotion this year I am certain he would have been here still. Maybe the insiders can tell that Carrick is treading water now.

You can only buy what is for sale. Especially in January.
Spot on but why is it MFC have basically ruined two seasons of (arguably) high expectations by selling our top players in the January window?

As we know some players tell other players of their intentions and therefore this can have a marked effect on the morale of the team once word gets out.

Some players just down tools knowing they’ve had an offer or maybe their buddy is leaving. LL should have left in the summer so that MFC could have had a more rational approach to the season. Basically our season has been ruined by poor management decisions.

I know people will argue that our form dipped prior to LL leaving but I’m sure the players knew LL was leaving or was about to leave and once the word spread between players and their agents then some players lost interest or focus.

I’m sure there’s some dissension in the dressing room especially with the likes of Burgzorg and maybe McGree (can’t tell me he’s always injured).

I can't say for sure you're correct but even if he scored more goals, the team under Carrick still wouldn't perform.

I said after the Watford game, I think our form is lowering Hackney and Van Den Bergs fees when they leave in the summer.

People will say VDB hasn't played well and Hackney etc but they will both have suitors a league above us this season.

There's no way Hackney goes through this again next season when he can move to a better league and doesn't have to do everything himself.

I think in January we were taken aback when the MLS were either the only bid or out bid other offers. We waited thinking a lower PL team or maybe Leeds would come in higher but when they didn't we were up the creek without a paddle. Thats why we ended up with the players we have brought in.

I agree, I think we were very lucky that a random MLS team were willing to pay that.

He's doing everything but losing the ball because he's trying to drag the team who don't know where they are supposed to be.

He lost the ball a few times today but it was because he tried constantly to break forward and had Azaz and Morris stood next to him, Whittaker and Forss stood together on the right, and if he did give it to Whittaker it came back 5 yards away from him or he had the option of Conway with 3 or 4 defenders around him.

How do you know that. He might have scored anoy ten goals. Thats just speculation as is everything.
We don’t know that to be fair, that was the dilemma. We definitely had that fee on offer in January though. It was simply too much for us to knock back, regardless of what we could get in.

Hackneys decision making was dreadful today but he was far better than Morris who does not impress me one iota

You have to hope we get good money for Hackney and VdB this summer because we desperately need to rebuild the squad as it's not rounded enough. All the loanees will also be gone so we will be left with the bare bones.
Defensively and in midfield we are too lightweight and upfront we are too slow.
We'll probably need a keeper, at least 2 fullbacks, at least 2 centre halves, 2 possibly 3 in midfield and at least another 2 upfront.
Whoever is in charge has a massive job on their hands.

You cant turn down £20m+ for a player, when he went through a long spell without scoring in sept and oct (i take back he looked disinterested at the time) people were saying we should have snapped ipswich's hands off.

we've been a selling club the last few seasons when the deal has been right .. Tav, Spence, Chuba and Rogers all went for £10m+

Do you still think it was the correct decision? Latte leaving along with Doak's injury has left us looking so weak in that final third. Crazy decision not waiting until the summer.

Yeah, 100% the correct decision.

We aren’t entitled to promotion or even a play off place. Just because we sold a player for crazy money and now are struggling a bit it isn’t the end of the world. We will have another go next season.

And then what happens? Again we cash in on our best player in the January window and massively weaken the squad? If we plan to sell our best players it should be done in the summer so we can get a suitable replacement in. Our fans pay a lot of money following the club, more than most in the Championship, we deserve better in my opinion.

Didn’t realise LL was a lynchpin of our defence
