To everyone who wanted us to take the money for Latte Lath in January

Do you still think it was the correct decision? Latte leaving along with Doak's injury has left us looking so weak in that final third. Crazy decision not waiting until the summer.

He and his agent were pushing for it.

It's what we have done with some of the money, that is the issue for me.

We were still poor with LL in the team. Overall our players are not good enough - perhaps Rav and Hackney are top championship players but all the rest we need to lose and replace next season.
All the talk of a new manager - they would not get any improvement with the existing squad.

Sorry that is plainly nonsense.

We need to recruit for sure but to say that all bar two are not good enough is hyperbolic rubbish.
I suppose its the expectation isnt it - if we are happy being mid table and avoiding relegation then ok keep them but we must have higher plans than that - have you seen how bad these players are?

Lath wanted to leave pretty much from the day he got here. We had to sell him.

The mistake was not bringing in a proper replacement. If we were serious about getting into the playoffs this season we should have already found his replacement in the months leading up to the January window opening and told Lath we will let you leave but let us sign your replacement first.

Bringing in a loan player smacks of the club saying "If we don't make the playoffs at least we haven't spent much and the loan player can just go back to their club".

That's a great point to be fair. The fact that the loanee we've replaced him with doesn't really move is another strange one as Lath didn't stop running. They are like total opposites in their style of play.

Kieran Scott must have known deep down that Lath would be leaving. I can't understand why we didn't have several players shortlisted, who we'd have then looked to sign in January.

Unless we did and decided that it would be too risky paying the big transfer fee for them if we don't make the playoffs, which is possibly why we looked at bringing in a loan player.

Think it’s hard to criticise the club for this one. Most people think we had an agreement to sell Lath given the bids at the end of the summer.

I think what threw us in January was the only concrete bid (that I’m aware of) coming from the MLS. Their window opens at the end of hours, so no rush from their end to get a deal complete. I even think Lath will have been waiting to see if a premier league team came in but it looks like they never. Didn’t he also get injured in January? This will have put some clubs off who needed him to hit the ground running.

We’re left in a difficult spot where we either give Lath an ultimatum to leave asap or not at all. I don’t think we could due to needing the money. Or we let it play out and get whatever we can as a replacement in the final days. Which likely wouldn’t be a target we have scouted, no one wants to sell an important player at the end of Jan, like us with Lath in the summer.
