But what you posted was an absolute load of rubbish! Why would I want to watch someone rolling a dice? It's not entertaining. I watch football because it's entertaining.
Watching a referee ruin the game, through chance, also ruins the game. I have different views to you, you don't respect that, and that's fine, but that doesn't make anything I said rubbish, and you've pout no case forward for it to be.
Besides which your argument could equally be applied to supporters of VAR due to its application only in situations where there is a red card or sending off.
VAR isn't the answer to everything in it's current form, but it reduces the amount of glaring errors, massively, you are intelligent enough to see that, you just don't value having the laws applied as being as important as me.
Essentially it comes down to people who enjoy the game in different ways. If you are someone like me who enjoys the emotional impact of the game VAR fundamentally alters that.
Not necessarily, I enjoy the emotion of the game, I wouldn't put effort into teaching kids if I didn't. I just value the ethos of sport more than you. I jokingly used to say that Footy was soap opera for men. But actually it's fundamentally more than that, it's competitive, it's rule based, and application of rules is important. I'm a pragmatist in that we can't get 100% correct decisions, but we can't have glaring errors occurring.
I'd much rather people said "we understand it takes away a lot of the enjoyment you get from the game and we don't care" rather than coming up with facile arguments and calling people luddites, which isn't an argument it's just an insult.
I'd much rather people said "we understand that it's a sport with rules and laws, but I just want to enjoy it without any delays, I don't care about having rules", rather than coming up with facile arguments and calling people 'those types', which isn't an argument it's just an insult. But this part is all just a facile argument, because I didn't call anyone a "luddite", yes I explained that some people fear change (not technology specific, but general change, I'd say it was an allusion of conservatism not luddite), and they do, but I aimed it in your direction in response to your insult
greenhouses, bricks and all that
The championship is football enjoyed primarily by live audiences and not TV ones. Let's cater to the audience and not go down the VAR route.
The championship is the 5th richest league in the world, with 150mill at stake for promotion.....lets get the sporting ethos right, with correct decisions, the entertainment and drama will look after itself....including, if necessary, laughing at Derby score a 90th minute goal, in game to save themselves from relegation, only to see it chalked out for offside by a foot. What could be better drama than that?!
