I think icu or hospital admission start going up, as deaths lag 3 weeks behind this dataisn't that AFTER the horse has bolted?
half the people that enter ICU will not leave. Again that's after the horse has bolted. It's certainly a better measure than deaths, You need a lead indicatorI think icu or hospital admission start going up, as deaths lag 3 weeks behind this data
That's strange logic. By then it's too late. As we found out by delaying our first lockdownLockdown should only come back into place if the number of deaths starts to considerably rise.
Argh the anti science brigade at it again.
Cases rising, deaths falling. Massive increase in testing.
Lockdown proven to increase deaths from other causes.
Calm down.

A person on this board has been unable to get access to cancer treatment and it has grown during the that time, which they believe this will shorten their lifespan.Cases rising, Yes
deaths falling, No
Lockdown proven to increase deaths from other causes.: Proof?
My partner and I have remained in lockdown since April due to her ongoing medical issues. Luckily I am furloughed so there is no requirement for me to do my daily 2 hour commute.
Personally, I think the lockdown was eased too soon and money making became more important than peoples lives
By contrast, I met up with some friends in London three weeks ago. The normally bustling areas of Southwark and London Bridge were largely deserted, on a Friday night. I was the only person in my carriage on a 10:30pm train home. A train which is normally standing room only.
That's not sustainable. Loads of businesses are going to go bust. Long term lockdown can't be the answer.
There probably does have to be a bit of a trade off between the economy...and jobs, and livelihoods, and the risks of an increased death rate.
Yes why would anyone use a country that has got through the pandemic with a minuscule death toll in relation to its population and not having put its economy down the bog as an example of a good idea?I wish people would stop using Sweden as a what we should do...
Exactly.Cases rising, Yes
deaths falling, No

Lets be honest we've been watching a steady death of the high st and pubs for 2 decades. Covid is just euthanising themBusinesses will go bust. That's the way it is. The majority of the businesses going out of business are those relying on passing trade on the High Street as people change shopping habits.
Other casualties will be bars and restaurants as people stay away from them in order to protect their health, and who can blame them?
Some businesses could be doing more when it comes to both creating conditions people feel safe in and policing from my experiences so far.
Miniscule? ReallyYes why would anyone use a country that has got through the pandemic with a minuscule death toll in relation to its population and not having put its economy down the bog as an example of a good idea?
I was on several trains at the weekend and huge groups of men and women going to Leeds or York, p****d on the train and none wearing masks. The trains were totally packed out and zero social distancing. I had to use the train for medical appointments otherwise I 100 percent wouldn't be on them... It was a disgrace
Mine was Saturday... Loads and loads of what looked like hen and stag parties.. Won't have been and god knows which bars were going to the them all in at onceI was the East Coast Main Line last week and it was perfectly fine. All people wearing masks and carriages planned with social distancing in mind.
That is 0.05 percent of the Swedish population. So yes in comparison to its total population it is tiny and the majority to these tragic deaths were elderly people or people with pre existing illnesses. And they have not sent their economy and millions of people’s live into the abyss in the process.Miniscule? Really
More than 5,500 people have died with Covid-19 in this country of just 10 million. It is one of the highest death rates relative to population size in Europe, and by far the worst among the Nordic nations. Unlike Sweden, the rest all chose to lock down early in the pandemic
