This meeting with Gibson

When are we sorting the rota for the meetings. Be good to get different representation from the fans on here

I’d happy to go fifth on it

I guess if you want the chairman/owner of the football club to speak openly and candidly on a range of issues, some of it has to be agreed to be “off the record”
If so, there's zero point in having the meeting, apart from those present enjoying some form of kudos.

Probably because they are acting on behalf of the fans, and they are conscious that the fans will want an update as to what happened last night, rather than prioritising their relationship with the club and worrying about jeopardising their seat at the table.
Sorry - I have had a ridiculous day - erm Captain Cook Museum, signing legal stuff, some unbelievable stuff today.
Gibson is so passionate about the club it is not true - you first have to know that. And about the fans and the area. Ask any of the supporters in that meeting. And I mean any of them.
I feel exhausted and very down today. Because we came out of that meeting hopeful that we could be more united again as fans. And as fans and club. Everyone agreed on that.

Sell popcorn at the match. Must be a massive mark up on that.

If multi millionaire businessman Steve Gibson ever needs any more tips on maximising revenue for a business, I’m only a phone call away 📞
If it was the toffee popcorn, I'd buy a tub

Absolutely nailed it.
These groups represent us, the fans, or at least they claim to.
So why the lack of hardly any detail from these last couple of meetings? - makes it appear clandestine and 'closed shop'.
As stated, there's 27,000 of us, not a couple of dozen.
Look up the word 'representatives'...
There was an open invite last week from RF lads to get all fans groups together. It invited everybody who wanted to come. There was tea and biscuits on, lounge provided by club, Yvonne from the club was there. Apart from Boro podcast and 12th man I bet there 15 people max.
Shame, it was a great meeting as well.

I like this board and reading other posters but my take on it is that fmttm and msf are similar to maddo in that they tow the party line. Dana will go against the grain a little. Not taking away from any of the good work they do and passion for the Boro.

The threat of a walk out has been decisive in securing the meeting and getting the small, but hopefully first, discounts and a promise of better communication.

Not really.

it was a 3 hour meeting. There’s bound to be stuff the club didn’t want published.

Eg -

“Why didn’t we sign a striker in Jan?”

“Well we agreed a £5m fee with x club for x player, but his agent was asking for £20k a week for his player which we didn’t think was realistic.”

Gibson might tell the meeting that info off the record, but he probably wouldn’t want it in the public domain for a variety of reasons

I mean the club said they would meet with fan groups before releasing season tickets this year but this never happened. Now they say they will definitely meet before next year's can you really trust them. All that's been achieved is a prize freeze on u18s and a 4 quid discount on u18s walk ups hardly ground breaking. While the rest of us have to just suck up the increase while the club pursue this new moneyball transfer strategy.

I fear we in for another summer of selling our best players like Hackney Mcgree maybe Jones and then replacing them with young project players we have never heared of. That if this is what the club are planning the new prices are obsurd

Cheers fella - that's a more than fair point re: 15 rocking up. If there's another one organised, I'll definitely come along.

Of course its Gibson and his company but he has ways of mitigating those losses and I'm certainly not in a position where I can tell a guy worth half a billion quid to apologise to his missus that she can't have rhino horn indicator stalks on her Aston Martin as he's brought in Matt Clarke and has agreed to pay Jonny Howson's pension next year.
You are so wrong. He had to find an unbelievable amount of actual cash to keep us going through covid. If he had robbed a bank he wouldn't have that amount of cash available.

Absolutely, there has to be a clear strategy that would justify these increases, it is the uncertainty of intent that people feel hard to accept.

How exactly could we increase the revenue by ÂŁmillions a year?
For one have the clubs kit available to buy year round. The amount of lost sales having no stock for majority of the year is ridiculous

Then I do feel the club need to show behind the scenes more even maybe go to a streaming company and create a documentary like Wrexham and Sunderland have done build up the global fan base etc.

The club have to be alot more commercially aware.

Keep an eye out for it. I’d say if you’re not part of a group, like me, but you’d like to maybe put some ideas across or hear about future plans then do it.

Wonder how it would look if the rest of the south stand decided to protest and walk out leaving only RF there.

I think RF have done extremely well to get a meeting with Gibson but I don't think its particularly a great outcome.

The supporters really needed to push the club for some form of interest free installment payments on ST's in my humble opinion.
