This is embarrassingly bad

Dijksteel would have been bullied tonight, he's not a big fan of a physical contest.
Whhhaaaatttt?!!!!!

Anyway, I think the biggest issue last night was our inability to play through the press. Fry looks increasingly nervous on the ball and hit it to long too often, Paddy was struggling and Peltier is not a ball playing defender.

They were more positive and more aggressive than us, but their tactics also gave them a big advantage.

If we had the right players to play through their press, and I include midfielders in that too, last night wouldn't have been such a one sided affair.

Yes it was definitely the press that got to us. We didn't know how to cope with it. Not every team will be able to do that and we won't wilt like we did last night every time either. The absence of Dijksteel was a big factor I think. Peltier can't play that way, Fry had a rare nightmare and Howson looked like he needs a rest. Once they got into the rhythm of that press and we had so many players off it was only going to end one way.

Are we still badly run?
Pay attention numb nuts.
Gibson made horrendous decision after horrendous decision from 2016-2020.
Since 2020 he has got all the calls right (Woodgate out, Warnock in and out, Wilder in, new structure)
And I have been posting that all through the journey since 2020, giving him massive credit, which he deserves.

Have you got any more rubbish to post?

Agreed, Dijksteel (who used to be a central midfielder) was missed massively because Peltier struggles to play through the press.

I've said repeatedly that after Jones Howson will be the biggest miss for us, we simply do not have anyone who can come in and play that role, apart from Crooks, who is already playing, ditto Paddy.

Do is not hard to see why he plays every week and why he looked so leggy last night.

Couldn't agree more. What we also missed last night was Dijksteel's link up with Crooks and Jones. It gets us up the pitch and forces opponents back. Last night we couldn't get any controlled possession anywhere.

As bad a result as last night was we're still in the mix and it's far too early to write the season off just yet.

Either way we need to strengthen in some key areas, regardless of which division we're in.

Sheff Utd looked the best team I've seen this season, but it's one game and they'll drop points themselves over the coming games, as all the play of contenders will do.

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere (I’m sure it will have been….)

Why was Dijksteel out last night? Anything long term?

So we are a well run club, with a few bad decisions on the way.

I said that last year when you were spouting how bad we were with one or two cronies.

I assume you have a finance background, do you have any faith in accounts with large values of any of the following: Goodwill, provisions, revaluations, work in progress ?

Remember; Northern Rock, Carillion, Mirror Group, Enron et Al before you start believing any numbers you have confidence in.

I think, I am sure you can check it, the average plc accounts have 10x the notes and qualifications than the numbers themselves. Hardly gives me confidence.

You extrapolated MFC independent of Bulkhaul, and then excluded Goodwill or player valuation, I am more than convinced you work one of the big 4.

No, we were a very badly run club from 2016-2020. There were key decisions that were wrong all through, not a few bad ones on the way.

There is a huge difference between the book value of a company and it's market value. Sadly there is no positive book value in MFC, nor do I think there is currently any market value sadly because of the debt. I don't see anybody buying Boro with their debt and income prospects and I don't see Gibson writing off the intra Group debt in order to get anybody else interested.
I wrote we were stuck with each other. We still are. The difference is that Gibson has got the big decisions right since 2020.

I'm not sure whether you are trying to insult me or not with your final point. Have a think about what you mean.

Why would I want to insult you, I think you had the first pop, but it's fun in the end.

You know and I know there is nothing to be gained trying to understand intercompany accounts, we will never be told the level of intercompany trading e.g. management charges.

I headed a team of due diligence on acquisitions for one of the top 10 PLC's in the NE. The CEO basically ignored all provisions over a 3 year period and looked at the Management accounts. It was my job to confirm the closing balance sheets. There were some beauties, I go on about Germany but their accounts, a £50m company were pointless. We basically reperformed them.

I still disagree we were ever badly run.

I sat on the board of a GB Operating Division of a Multinational Global Company for a few years.
The GB Balance Sheet was largely insignificant other than in balancing accruals to fix declared profits. As a Board, by far our major focus was on Management Accounts.
The luxury position we had was that our Corporate debt was very manageable and managed from the US, the true GB element was opaque, the business had huge book value and the stock price was growing. We made huge Operating Profits, but being American it was never "enough".
The "management" of hundreds of millions of accruals and staying legal was always key as our Operating Profit fluctuated against budget and plan and as we struggled to fit in with the European Group Profit needs.

I loved it at the time, but don't miss it at all now I'm out.

Luckily I never worked for a US company. Provisions and depreciation were our issue. Daft as it sounds because of the industry we were in Insurance provision could be over £30m.

My rule was if you were not sure go to source data, if they could not give it believe the worst.

It's quite funny a few weeks ago Amazon was worth 1.9 trillion dollars, today it 1.36 trillion. If my maths is right that drop is more than the value of the top 50 FTSE companies, it could even be the top 100.

Amazon alone is bigger that New Zealand's GDP.
