This is embarrassingly bad

Problem for me is the forwards. I love Watmore, but on the whole they just aren’t good enough to get us out of jail when the defence/midfield have off days.
There have been other occasions where individual errors have cost us, but then we’ve gone on to create enough chances to win a couple of matches but walk away empty handed cos the forwards haven’t taken their chances (Barnsley, Blackburn away).
We need that ‘get us out of jail’ goal scorer and we don’t have one yet. Hopefully Coburn will fill that role one day, but that’s a while off.
 
Also, it’s amazing we’ve had these three away losses on the spin and we are still only 3 pts off 4th. Now is as good a time as any to have it highlighted that we have a problem to address away from home, while there is still plenty of football to be played. Had this poor away run come a month down the line we may have been out of contention but happening now as it is, there is still time to fix it. Plenty left to play for
 
Just up after a late return. God, what a shocker. People expects defeats but that is hard to take.
We were outmuscled and outclassed in every department.
I think Lumley was out least worse player. Couldn’t do much about the goals.
Some of the passing was attrocious, fry back to Lumley and crooks across to the dug out.
That corner after the 6 mins added on first half?
Peltier caught out time and time again.
Teams have sussed Jones out but why has he stopped getting at players?
The strikers again let themselves down. No coincidence that we looked a better team when watmore came on again. Sporar wasting another glorious chance and Connelly rolling about like he’d stood on a landmine.
Terrible night but we know we’re short. We don’t have a midfielder on the bench. Players under performed, crooks being the main culprit.
I trust wilder and the players to turn it around though and we’re still in the mix.

Exactly - it’s the nature of the defeat rather than losing. But you’re right. Having slept on it, we are short but have a top manager and we are in the mix. I’d have snapped your hand off 6 or 7 months ago.

I think it’s obvious where we are lacking. Sadly we have a poor strike force, no depth to the midfield that includes a 33 year old and our second string defenders and first choice keeper aren’t good enough.

Yep, he and Sporar were woeful against Barnsley.

The January signings are convenient excuses for our poor away performances, and it doesn't actually hold up to scrutiny.

Whos going to score then? It certainly wont be our strikers, the only one who looks a natural finisher doesn't get a look in. You know a promising young talent, who's a local lad and on OUR books.

I think the problem is you expect your signings to improve the squad. They haven’t at the moment although I think balogun has shown signs of improving and hopefully the goal gives him confidence now

I think I’d have played coburn why his confidence was high too

Connolly seems to be getting a free ride from
Wilder

Genuine rubbish about Crooks.
He didn't play at all well last night but to call him in the same thought as one of our problems is genuinely insane. He found Jones with the only balls he got and where we created some real chances.
Connolly is an absolute nightmare of a signing. He doesn't understand the offside law, can't control a ball and can't shoot. That effort in the second half that went "close" was massively deflected off Watmore and was actually going at least fifteen yards wide. It would have been Watmore's goal. Yet he gets picked and stays on the field. Wilder blindness.

Fry and Howson were horrific last night and McNair not much better. Sporar was very very poor.
Tav battled but was just outplayed. Crooks looks knackered. Bola looked nowhere near right yet.
Peltier can come off the bench to see games out but not start.

Jones and Lumley are the only starters I would spare criticism.

But Wilder's preference for Connolly is absolutely mystifying and is being his undoing.

Wilder had the chance to recruit in January, it was obvious we needed goals. He has simply brought the wrong players in.

But he needs to get a grip with our away set up, attitude, fight, performances and results.

He did come on after the two massive wins and say how delighted, optimistic and proud he was; as did I.
