This Friends reunion thing

Yeh I loved it when it was in it`s prime and will still watch an episode if it`s on via a channel hop

Haven`t seen the reunion in full and only caught glimpses, probably watch it at a later date

Some have mentioned leave Friends as it is.....I`d agree but I`d still watch any new episodes that came out, just out of interest I guess.........actually no it`ll be because of Jennifer
Marta Kauffman said it ended in such a way that everyone was happy. To have to do episodes, they would have to unpick all that and add misery. Not sure the fans would go for that. Its better to leave it as it was.

I have similar feelings about only fools and horses when they struck rich, it should have ended there for me.

Agreed.
They ruined the ending of Only Fools and Horses for me by going back, the original ending was perfect.

I'm not really a fan of reviving programmes in general, it rarely works as well if you go back.

I quite enjoyed it.

Quite enjoyed hearing from the writers, and was able to disengage from Corden easily enough.

The revelation that Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer were actually in love was, well, genuinely quite touching.

Harmless and nice.

I didnt watch as it wasn't my cup of tea, I did read though that they had to turn the lighting down as two of the cast were starting to melt?

I use to watch it with an ex-girlfriend in the late 90's. Jennifer Aniston was very attractive and made it worthwhile. Friends was good for what it was - easy watching TV. When I became single Friends had no chance competing with mates and the pub.

Having successfully managed to avoid it until a couple of years ago I've seen the odd episode in the background. Can definitely see the appeal if you started at episode 1 and essentially grew up with it, longevity etc but I must admit it wasn't for me. Just didn't find it funny.

It might be just me but I think I'd be much more inclined to a programme where the participants actively dislike each other, rather than one where they're "friends".

Sounds like you’d like Always Sunny if you haven’t seen that yet

Well I'm in the totally uncool club reading through this thread. I loved the programme and still watch re-runs to this day and laugh. I found the reunion really good too. Always wanted them to do more episodes etc but after Martha Kauffman explained why it's never happened I totally get it.
Also I have no problem with James Corden. Loved his Smithy sketches (especially with George Michael), never seen any Gavin and Stacy, watched a lot of A League of Their Own, and his carpool karaoke has had some amazing guests, made in big in America...fair play to the bloke.

Loved it, nice to see i have aged better than some of my favourite characters. I would pay money, good money for a dinner with Courtney Cox, despite the obvious work. I am sure she would ignore it though 😉

Friends will probably be timeless like “Laurel and Hardy”, “Sergeant Bilko”, “Only Fools and Horses” etc where in years ahead it will come back in fashion. I still get laughs out of watching old episodes. The one I remember was the one where the lads played the girls at Poker!

Dont get it at all, tried a few times to watch it, i seriously didn't realise that it was supposed to be a comedy show, embarrassingly unfunny and cringeworthy

As others have mentioned it's one of those shows you can just throw on as background TV and pick it up dropping in and out.

When it first aired I used to watch it on a Friday night but wouldn't say I was a mega fan or anything.

Talk about exaggeration ! - the small portion of the world that was bothered about Friends possibly, but I'm certain there were far more that couldn't care less - me and just about everybody I know included in that
Cares enough to comment eh. I don’t think Marv actually meant the whole world

I've watched every episode at least 50 times, usually as background filler. I remember when it was first on TV over here, an obscure late night slot but after a few episodes I was hooked. Poorly written in many places, poorly acted sometimes, I absolutely love it to the point that I reference it often. My wife hates it but I think it's great. Haven't watched the reunion thing yet, but will today

I must have seen every episode at least 20 times.

I now have it or SSN on as background usually.

I thought Frasier was loads funnier though, I don't understand why that isn't bigger these days in terms of repeats, I watch the C4 morning ones if I'm around.

I think Frasier was a specific type of humour that doesn't appeal to all the masses. I love it personally but I can see why people wouldn't like it/understand it.

Friends was worth watching for a long time, but like many US sitcoms, it runs for too long and kind of eats itself.
Having said that though, "It's Always Sunny" has been on for even longer and it's still very funny. I think that might be because the characters are both likeable and at times abhorrent in much the same way as they were on Seinfeld and in Curb.
Actually, that might explain why the likes of Johnson and Trump garner support.

I endured it last night, it was excruciating at times.

Enjoyed the clips, they're always going to be watchable, but the awkwardness between the cast made it a difficult watch.

Seeing Matthew Perry like he is was very sad and the most interesting bit was deciding who had had the most 'work' done, between Aniston, Cox and Schwimmer.
