The weekend beer and music thread

weathers fine down here, even a bit of blue sky and people sat outside at the local taproom. just a few pints this afternoon, got to pick the borobird up later tonight, she's out on her birthday bash. back home doing some invoicing (always better after a few beers) and doing some of next weeks work. early bus tmrw to the pub for noon, for our relegation battle against wolves. cheers.

A lovely beer but with this branding update the marketing team need a good talking to and maybe a round of smacked bottoms. Terrible.

Earlier today I wondered what the brilliant Mattiel was up to. Turns out, touring with actual Jeff Goldblum.

I worked at the badger (hall & woodhouse) brewery for a few years, but fortunately it coincided with one of my mid-life crises so I can't remember too much about it - we used to get 2 cases of free beer a month, had a huge stack of mainly tanglefoot at home.

One of those bands that I feel like I ought to like but I just don't. I've tried, believe me. I've got a long list of bands like that and I do occasionally try listening to them again to see if I can 'get it' this time but it rarely works. Put 'Electric' on spotify the other day and I still think it's sh*te.

I really like them but was disappointed when I saw them live for the first time a couple of years ago. They were supporting Alice Cooper and literally from the first song the egotistical idiot Ian Astbury was whingeing that it must have been a Cooper crowd, and saying how crap the crowd were throughout the show.

Great vocalist, bell end though.

That's probably a thread in itself. Bands you loved on record but were a huge pile of dog eggs when you saw them live. I could name a fair few. The Lemonheads, Idlewild and The Brian Jonestown Massacre for a start. Those were all festival appearances though and you got the impression that they were just going through the motions and bored sh*tless because they didn't really want to be there.

Only 4pm and still working here (from home). Just had my Covid and flu vaccines so seeing as I am going to feel like I've got a hangover tomorrow, I thought I might as well have an early drink :D

Today's tipple is a cheeky little 8% chocolate and vanilla stout from the wonderful Trader Joe's.

For my music, I was in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons last week and started listening to a lot of "Americana" music, so have my favorite Iron & Wine track:
