* The Unofficial "Official" Swansea v Boro Match-day Thread UTMB *

Yes we have massively declined since then and you would be a fool not to admit to the drop in form.

No fry.
No centre backs causing overloads
Strikers missing even more chances
I'm not saying there hasn't been a drop in form.. I'm merely suggesting that it might not always be the case and hat winning three games in a row is not an impossible task.

That is the point I am making newyiddion- how DO they cope and could we copy them
I think like with every season it's a roll of the dice. as much as folks would have you believe otherwise.. new players coming in have to be up to scratch and there are no guarantees. calculated risk in some cases.. but at the very least we have to have a plan and stick to it.. rather than signing a bunch of newyddion moneyball spreadsheet players then not playing them in a position or formation that is suited.. or with suitable supporting players.

It's not impossible but it's highly unlikely. Personally I would like to see a change from the 532. We are not causing overloads anymore and with fry missing I think it would make more sense to go to a back 4 and a midfield diamond. I would like to see Tav mcgree wide with howson holding and either payero or watmore behind balagun and coburn

I have been sitting looking at the remaining fixtures since the match ended.
I'm surprised some have already thrown in the towel.

I think Sheff U will be lucky to get anything out of Loftus Rd in QPR's last home game of the season.
I am pretty confident they won't beat Fulham either on the last day at home. I see them finishing on 69, 70, 71, 72 (if they win one) or at best 73 points (if they win and avoid defeat). If they win their last 2 they deserve the place.

Millwall should stuff Peterborough next saturday, but I can only see them getting beat at Bournemouth on the last day. They will get 69, 70 or at best 72 points.

We can't reach Forest even if they lost all four which they definitely won't.
We won't reach Luton either, they have Reading at home last day even if they need a point.

So Middlesbrough, how much do you want it?
I'm certain that 3 wins will get us 6th place on 73 points, even if Sheff U get 4 points, which I just don't see.
It could get as tight as Goals scored never mind goal difference.
We need to despatch a very poor Cardiff on wednesday night. Only 6 clubs have scored fewer than them and more importantly only 4 clubs have conceded more. We don't just need to win we need to bury them. Payero and McGree to start in midfield for me. Connolly nowhere near the team.
Any sort of win over resurgent Stoke would be great.
Then we go to Preston for a match we may not even have to win if we win our next two at home. But I really do think we will win there.

As gutting as the missed chances are today and as woeful as our senior forwards are, I still think we have a pretty good chance of grabbing 6th.

Play either Huddersfield, or a Spenceless Forest over 2 legs. I think we could easily do Huddersfield.
Huddersfield, Spenceless Forest or Luton at Wembley.
We'd have all taken that wouldn't we?

The keeper situation has been completely mismanaged. A decent stopper would see us comfortably top six. Blame who you like for this.
Jones isn’t the Messiah - he had a good spell but has been anonymous for some time now and his inexperience is clear to see - people on here built him up far too quickly - he isn’t as good as you believe and he is way behind Spence at this time. Not popular but true.
No EPL team is coming in for Tav. He is a bang average Champo player who’s biggest fan is himself. On here daft lads seen him as a 15 / 20 million player - he isn’t. Running around and wasting dead ball situations doesn’t make you a superstar.
We completely blew the January window. Wilder wanted Keinan Davis - he got Connelly and Balogan.who is to blame for that? We are struggling because we can’t score. Wilder blames the midfield - we need blokes who take chances - our strikers don’t.
I was frustrated but now I’m angry - we should be top six - a decent striker and we would be. Play Payero for the last 3. Drop the ‘undropable’ like Tav and Jones and become solid - it’s worked for Luton, Huddersfield, Sheff Utd. We blew a great opportunity this season and someone needs to be held to account

This squad was a never a top 6 squad. It was only because wilder got them purring when he took over that we made it possible. This is a bang average squad and we have been hit by injuries. We’ve done well to in the mix this season

"Someone needs to be held to account".
Who and how?
Didn't we already sack the manager in November?

Calm down man, we really can still make 6th.
Payero and McGree will start against Cardiff, Connolly won't and we will win.

Getting beat 1-0 at home to Hull is where we lost the play offs.
A point away from home against Swansea isn't too bad a result really.
Fry is a big loss and I think that's why Swansea were better today.
Glad Connolly and Sporar are on loan and will leave us soon.
You can see they try but they just don't have it.
I am seeing enough to be optimistic for next season.

You write this and then go on to provide 9 lines of pure opinion. Not one thing you wrote describes what's been in front of you. You also seem to mis-understand the meaning of "realistic".

Allowing the frustration to turn into anger has got better of you. Real supporters allow themselves to calm down and think properly before going on to the internet and confirming their observations.

Maybe the FAC run gave us a false impression, thinking we are better than we actually are, we have really gone off the ball since the Chelsea cup exit & maybe our true reflection of our league standing is where we are

I think everyone who is retaining optimism on this thread have shown themselves over a long period to pretty knowledgeable, and no doubt all understand our shortcomings. That does not change the fact that there's still a possibility of reaching the top 6.
