The unofficial "Official" Swansea City v "Neil Warnock`s" Middlesbrough - Match Thread.

Saville was day dreaming and therefore did have to lunge. I think he is a yard behind where he needs to be all the time.
The video clip however makes it look like Saville may have just got to the ball.

We were robbed by poor refereeing anyway it seems clear. The decisions around Bola's disallowed goal were scandalous.

For Cooper to say the pen at Stoke and today were stone wall penalties might explain his unfortunate looking eyes.

There was so much to be encouraged by in the performance today.
Morsy, Bola, Fry, Hall, Bolasie were all very good.
But Christ do we need a couple of strikers.

Good decision to take off Spence. I saw Blackwell say "Wake him up" while discussing the subs. Spot on.

They do erimus, I take issue with Ted saying we did it to ourselves, and got what we deserved. That is clearly nonsense.
Also kind of nonsense saying "It was not a penalty, that is a fact, not opinion"... when it's actually entirely opinion. Sadly the refs opinion was different.

I don't disagree that it was very soft though, and pretty horrible to take in the 97th minute.

i think he’s making it up to look c
It's having the opposite effect :ROFLMAO:
What a freeze frame? What does that prove. Remember McNair’s freeze frames that looked shocking but his red got rescinded. Its pretty simple but some of you are partisan to the point of being childish. Saville does his job properly the scenario leading to the penalty doesnt happen. Saville didnt, lunged in clumsily and gave the ref a decision to make. You might say ref got it wrong im saying thats not the point. We shouldn't and didnt need to give him a decision to make. So as ive said weve got ourselves to blame to an extent

I can't agree with this.
Aa I said earlier, he immediately gave the corner then. as a few Swansea appeals went up, he pointed at the spot. I for one would love to know why he did that and if, as is being suggested, the assistant or fourth official chimed in then why didn't he take the time to go and consult them? the time between signalling a corner and pointing at the spot was way to quick for any consideration to have been made and I honestly think he's responded to the appeals of the Swansea players in much the same way as he's responded to the scream and dramatic reaction of the defender when he has kicked Bolasie for the disallowed goal.
If he had to provide feedback, even via a written statement, as to why those decisions were made then we as fans might be more able to accept the decisions or accept that the referees association would be working with the referees to prevent such mistakes in the future.
As it stands I'll always be of the opinion that he's not only useless, but also very likely to be biased to the home team and easily influenced (or conned) by players who are not being honest.
I agree that more transparancy would help, but that's different to accountability.

Trial by interview isn't the answer, but a big part of people's frustration comes from the lack of explanation.

I agree Saville was slow and then made a risky lunge, but the video (rather than the still) does appear to show Saville got the ball and did not foul the man at all.
I don't rate him, but I don't think he should be blamed for a bad refereeing decision.

No, that IS the point.

Referee got it wrong. You don't have to just look at the freeze frame watch the video, Saville gets there first and the Swansea player kicks him. Saville doesn't get extra points for getting there a second earlier he did his job. The referee fukked his up.
Spot on Muttley.
Agree 110%

Disagree. Watched it real time and got that feeling, hes gonna give it. Watch the replay and you see Saville doing a great multi task of ball watching and dawdling until he realises oh Sh”t. Look, obviously very emotive for some and great that we see things differently but for me today a draw would of been fair. We didnt deserve to win because again stupid mistakes just as much as the ref cost is points.

It looks from the slo mo that Saville dives in, it does not look like he touches the ball as it does not change trajectory, the Swansea player then kicks savilles foot into the ball, which changes its trajectory.

Give over. I know you want to be able to say I told you so, but even with the evidence in front of you, you’re still not able to admit that you are wrong.

So what? That's just watching a football match, you always think that the decision is going to go one way or another. Sometimes your fears are realised and sometimes they are not.
Watch the replay and you see Saville doing a great multi task of ball watching and dawdling
Again so what?

The wrong decision was made. I'm no fan of Saville myself but he got to the ball first.

I'm posting a freeze frame because I haven't got a vid to share, but watching play back on a big screen, it's clear that Saville kicks the ball, then their player kicks through the back of Saville....that's a foul to us

Please dont tell me you are advocating a player not making a tackle because it would have given the referee “a decision to make”. In that case you might as well not tackle at all. Its a daft thing to say.

sorry fella, yes he was slow reacting, but he played the ball, so it isn't a penalty
I thought he slid in and completely missed the ball. Agree he should have been in a position where he didn't need to dive in. I would have been demanding a pen if it had occurred at the other end.

I dont think i am wrong but if you do thats ok. I think you need to chill out a bit and consider what ive said. If you disagree, no dramas but told me so? What are you 12? The fact that a lot of posters and fans are fuming about a penalty that we cant complain too much about instead of one of our senior players failing his team and not just today but on regular basis and is consistently unable to get basics right says a lot. Anyway. I hope im wrong but nothing really left to play for this season but hopefully we’ll see some more exciting football as a result of having nothing to gain or lose
