* The Unofficial "Official" "Michael Carrick`s" Boro v Preston. Match-Day thread *

I thought we played very well and only lost because of set pieces. Lots of good things akpom was class hackney just gets better and better and mcgree looked good. The midfield was so much better without crooks and McNair. With the setpiece defending some responsibility must come down on steffan who doesn't command his area or martial the marking.

One glass half full thing I guess with reassessing our goal being that to bloody stay up.

The fixtures may have fell kindly for him, but Leo's return of 2 wins, 2 losses and a draw from his 5 games in charge if spread out over the remaining season shows that we have enough in us to avoid the worst. You'd like to think Carrick could replicate THAT for rest of the campaign.

And in fairness to where we are now with our squad until January at least, that's it. Other than Chuba being possibly the best surprise of 22/23 of course.

On paper today was the easiest of the pre world cup away games we have. The rest are going to be a lot more challenging.

Didn't rate Hackney in second half

We need to be more solid.

So you think Jones is solid? very very poor again today, as was Fry ,positional sense and passing was all over the place....

Will be a struggle until January for sure. Jones and Fry need to sort themselves out or need replacing. Muniz can return to sender, bring Josh back and at least two midfielders in during window. Giles is OK but nothing special as a full back. Worth it for his delivery but only just.

We deserved a point, but we have gifted the opposition stoppage time goals at least four times this season (including League Cup), which suggests a poor mentality. Going to be difficult for Carrick to turn that round, when experienced fellas like Wilder and Warnock couldn’t.
