* The Unofficial "Official" "Michael Carrick`s" Boro v Preston. Match-Day thread *

He's been injured during the last 2 two international breaks.

He started the last 3 USA games before that.

Where have you got the idea he's 4th choice from?
USA discussion sites dont rate his chances.

Our fans deserve better. Makes me sick to see a club like Reading up the top. They were terrible last season.

I had a slightly differrent viewpoint on the game today than most on here.

Firstly, I thought our approach today was different than under wilder or leo. We looked more solid at the back in open play than we have for a while. At the same time we were committing players forward to create chances.

Then we crossed at the first opportunity, something we just weren't doing previously. I thought on the balance of play today a draw was about right, but PNE did have more than twice as many shots as we did, so maybe deserved a late winner, unfortunately.

We often had 5 or 6 men around the PNE penalty area and gave ourselves some options.

I didn't think Fry was that bad today. He did make a mistake for the first goal though.

I don't agree that Muniz is rubbish. He aint worth 8 million though.

Akpom was good again today without being great.

We missed being able to bring watmore on today for his running late on.

Tav is a massive miss and the difference we are seeing this season.

I think we are in big trouble. There was bits and peices that were ok today but we rarely created anything and looked so predictable. Defensively right through the team we are awful.

I'd go pulis style until January. How sad

Keeper
Djksteel....fry....lenihan....clarke
Watmore...Howson...Hackney...Giles
.........................Akpom
........................Crooks

Giles is a one trick pony unless we start attacking his crosses we may aswel not play him. Jones has to be dropped hes dreadful we really do lack options. Mcgree is a nothing player and is so weak and slow. Muniz looks like he's lost interest.

McGree tries to make things happen, he’s far from our problem. It’s players like Giles, Muniz and Stefan who will be off next year and have no investment in the club.

Less than a year ago we had Warnhock "in charge".
26 days ago we got rid of Mr Wilder - after the worst start to a season in a long time.
5 days ago - we welcomed Michael Carrick.
Apart from a few bit-part players and wall-flowers, we have a core of the same team - so its not unexpected for them to carry on making the same mistakes.
Im confident that Carrick will make big changes and tap up his sources - even if we become the most defensive team in the league.
The World Cup break couldnt have come sooner
Lets take it as the start of the season - and take advantage of the time to train and get hammered into shape.

Tries but constantly fails hes part of the problem. I keep seeing people saying this. They are all part of the problem. At the minute none of them look good enough from week to the next and that includes fry, Jones, akpom etc

They all continue to make errors, gift goals, miss chances, fail with simple passes, fail with crosses. The basics are not being done.q

My point is singling someone out who only came on in the 86th minute is a bit unfair
Good evening young man.
I posted with a sense of irony.
Frankly, at the moment, we appear to lack quality, intelligence and ability - but we do have the "quality" of inconsistency in abundance.:(
It will get better.
Carrick will be on the phone already - calling in favours owed......(y)

Just checked this out and it doesnt make for comforting reading.
Coventry only below us on goals - scored with two games in hand.
Mmmmm:unsure:

Worrying indeed. I get the impression from performances a lot of our players think they’re too good to go down. Also wouldn’t surprise me if the loan players just weren’t arsed anymore either.
