- The Unofficial "Official" Match Day Thread. Boro v Tony Mowbray`s Blackburn Rovers -

Need to be careful in the Fry incident masking the reality here. It was a shocking decision and had we got and scored the pen who knows however, we were very average first half, as were Blackburn. We started the second half well, actually played some good stuff for 10 minutes but we don’t have a bloke who can regularly score. As a result we don’t punish teams enough when we are on top. As soon as they scored we were all at sea. No leadership nor regrouping no clear direction and the ball up in the air more than it is in the ground. We were on the wrong end of a shocker of a decision today but that doesn’t excuse the performance and bite after that

No guarantee we would have scored - Britt has missed one or two penalties. If you like the big boot upfield- fair enough. I maintain we were poor- we rely heavily on defences making errors or ill timed tackles to get a dead ball situation. When this fails we are largely clueless. And that is not nonsense
our style isn't pretty, but it's effective. Even if we had missed the penna, we would have ben a man up for 70 mins.

I'd say yes our heads dropped a bit, but we also dropped a midfielder to go with CFs, we gambled going after an equaliser. Of course that tactic would have been less risky if Fry was still on the pitch instead of Wood

I wouldn’t say most of the match CtC but certainly most of the second half. We keep getting a reality check because at the end of the day great man management and organisation will only get you so far. In a league as tight as the Championship close games will be won by better players and Blackburn and other teams in the top six have better players and more goals in them.

Middlesbrough’s Marcus Browne hit out at the ‘shambolic’ decision not to award Neil Warnock’s side a penalty in the 1-0 defeat to Blackburn today.

Shambolic! How’s that not a pen!🤬. Geezer lifts his leg any higher he won’t have a hamstring anymore😤

Another really disappointing result . Why do we play hoof ball against big defenders? When was last time Britt won a header?
Feel sorry for stick wood is getting. Young lad just starting out. Theres a few others who didn't do much....

That's how play, we go man for man, and ask them to prove they are better. This is because we don't have the quality we need to play another way. Yes, Wood has a future in the game, but he isn't ready at 18 to play at this level yet.

This was the turning point:
I keep posting it because when this happens and you lose one of the best players in the team and the ref lets the little boy off, when its clearly dangerous play and he should have been sent off!
If I boot you in the face in any other circumstance is that acceptable?Ouch.jpegDAEL.jpeg

As it was the last game and the one before.

It's never down to the fact that we created next to nothing.
It's down to the fact that we didn't get a penalty and were playing 11 instead of ten with a key player nearly losing an eye.

Which other games this season that we've lost have people blamed the ref. Birmingham? Sheff Wed? Players got hammered.

You're just being obtuse.

Me thinks there is a lot of straw clutching going on here. If the ref had seen it awarded a penalty no guarantee we would score! If their lad was sent off it might have altered the game. No guarantee as we were completely hopeless.

it just might of meant we missed more chances!
It's not unreasonable to have the opinion that Fry is a better defender than Wood and installs more confidence in the rest of the team.

I am sure most being would say that if we had a pen and they got a red we would be unlikely to have lost 1-0!! Some people constantly want to turn the 'story' around to it all being our fault. I am not having that.
