- The Unofficial "Official" Match Day Thread. Boro v Tony Mowbray`s Blackburn Rovers -

***ed about the ref not giving the red card and pen... but we created enough chances to win and didn't take them.

Also anybody who thinks we hoof it for the craic needs to understand its not meant for flicks on by Britt to striking partner. Its meant to be challenged and win second ball in midfield and build from there. Its worked to the tune of 39 points so far.

But that's the point, we didn't win the second ball all game, so why continue with it. The ball doesn't stick either.

I understand you're just being contrary but surely you can appreciate that the ref had a huge bearing on that result?
On first viewing I thought it was a clash of heads, on second viewing it was a high boot and because it caught Dry it should have been a penalty but not a sending off for me.

My problem about all this crying us that the elephant in the room is missed. How awful we were.

It was the same against Brum, ref to blame.

Not a sending off?!

Fry is 6ft 4", jumping to head a ball and he's kicked him full force in his eye socket.

You'll never see a more blatant sending off for dangerous play.

Fair enough. But I thought we did. I can agree after we conceded we didn't but for the majority of the game. And it lead to enough chances to deserve to win the game.

Edit - its not meant to stick either its not about holding it up its about challenging for the header and winning the scraps.

I'd have to disagree about it not being a sending off, if you kick your foot so high in a crowded penalty area that you smash a 6'4 bloke (who wasn't stooping by the way) in the eye then you are reckless and dangerous and there is no place on a football pich for you.

It's the very definition of a sending off.

This was the turning point:
I keep posting it because when this happens and you lose one of the best players in the team and the ref lets the little boy off, when its clearly dangerous play and he should have been sent off!
If I boot you in the face in any other circumstance is that acceptable?View attachment 12770View attachment 12771

What you cant see in the first pic is that it could of just as easily been his own player he took out who was challenging with Fry.

100%, but we need a different striker for it to work effectively IMHO.

I'd be really interested to see what Warnock could have got out of Hugill to be honest.

I agree that Britt isn't great at it. Commits too many fouls when he just needs to apply some pressure to the defender. Hugill would be better at it as he positions himself well against the defender.

Remember the Brighton lad getting sent off in the final league game against us for that tackle on Ramirez?

The ref changed his mind after seeing the severity of the injury as he was entitled to do.

That's what the ref could and should have done today.

Look at the photo and tell me his own player was anywhere near that size 11 boot!
End of.

You're doing a bit of tacking the man rather then the ball yourself here. I bloody agree with you and have posted numerous times my opinions if you care to read them.

I'm pointing out that it was so bad and reckless it could of easily been his own player with career ending injury.

His own player is hidden in that photo..

If he hadnt been there Dael could have been sunbathing.
If he hadnt lifted his foot up face high in the area he might not have kicked Fry in the eye.
If,if ,if if if

He kicked Dael Fry full on in the face at head height and caused him to be taken off!
