* The Unofficial "Official" 152nd Tees - Wear "Derby" Match-Day Thread *

Okay, so we’re four points off the playoffs, with most of the season ahead of us and Brum next too.

Reflecting on the game, now the dust has settled;

Greenwood absolutely justified his inclusion, the lad has a bit of class and you can see why Arsenal took him a a kid.

I think we are more a than a 433 than a 4231 with Crooks playing a noticeably different role than earlier in the season, not too dissimilar to his Wilder role, which allows Jones to attack his defender with the safety net of Crooks filling in if he loses possession. We're much more solid with Crooks in this slightly deeper, more right sided role and we're not conceding goals recently.

Engel had a solid game and after having real concerns about him he looks like he could be a good signing for us.

Hackney is a class act, he'll be a PL most of his career.

Barlaser is now the player we knew he was when he signed. Really looks after the ball well and like HH always looks to move the ball forward.

And finally we have real depth in the squad now - Rogers I like a lot, LL must be a nightmare to defend against, with his outrageous pace and fook you attitude. Love him to bits.

All in all things are looking good and to top it all we're actually within touching distance of the top 6, not a position I thought we'd see only a few weeks ago.

No chance I thought that he was immense he gave their back 4 something to focus on and they couldn’t handle him.

5 that’s ridiculous.

He did the dirty work freed up the space for jones snd greenwood no way was he a 5
Just watched the game again. I stand by what I said. Ball came off him far too often and too easy, ran into crowds to give the ball away cheaply. I thought he had a bit of a stinker really. Didn’t close down at all either.

He’s a talented lad but today I think his inexperience told, believed he had to physically compete all the time instead of just play his game. The previous two matches he held the ball up laid it off, passed to team mates won free kicks. Today he made 4 successful passes, 3 unsuccessful and gave the ball away another 7 times (miscontrolled/tackled). 14 times he received the ball, 4 times we kept it. Zero shots on target, zero chances created. That’s not a good performance by any metric.

It’s a game of opinions and I know you are analytical, I think today regardless of the stats Coburn was a ‘force of nature’ against Ballard and co and sometimes that is just as important in a football match.

Having let the dust settle, if that second yellow was for “that was a F***ing free kick” then I think (while I don’t care very much) that the second yellow was bloody harsh.

I refereed years ago and many divisions below, but we applied a harder standard, and I would’ve had no qualms ignoring that. Modern refs take all sorts of ****. That was an absurd second yellow.

I am analytical, I like to remove my feeling and work on the facts. He lost that battle with Ballard today.

Wasn‘t it for him pursuing the ref as much as anything, why didn’t he not walk up to the ref and keep his mouth shut like a proper pro footballer should?

I think player behaviour is generally appalling and should be clamped down upon much more than it is.

No way could you give anyone in that side let alone josh a 5

That’s just rubbish of course he influenced it he created the space.
Rarely, and it’s pointless creating space if he’s just given the ball away again. We can’t hurt them without the ball. If you think his movement created the space for other people, then Lath did a better job of that, although Sunderland’s heads had gone by that stage

To be fair he got into dangerous positions 3 times, but he got beaten to the ball by I think Ballard all three times. Like I said he lost his individual battle today. But it’s a learning experience and he’ll come strong again
