this is the big myth, with trump that he somehow isn’t aware of his actions of the repercussions of his words as he’s mentally ill and his condition is deteriorating.

but again this isn’t true, this is real trump this is who he is, who he had always been and who he always will be. It’s nothing new this isn’t some kind late in life dementia he is the dementia he is a nasty piece of work.

There are quotes like this that date back decades it’s nothing new don’t ever Think that he has changed he hasn’t From his earlier self as this the real trump. .
 
Yes I had similar issues On this forum oh it’s all an act, he doesn’t mean it etc

no he does Mean it and it’s no act, but if it is an act he’s been acting it for 70 years.

Correct, sociopathy isn't technically a mental illness. He is in complete control of his decision making, it's why psychopaths and sociopaths can face death row, but schizophrenics go to an institution. Trump shows all the characteristics of a sociopath, and many of them extreme examples:

  • Glibness and Superficial Charm - he does have a veneer of charm, it's how he got on TV
  • Manipulative and Conning - there is plenty of evidence for this in his business dealings
  • Grandiose Sense of Self - can stand in front of some of the best scientists in the world and claims to have a natural ability to understand epidemiology, said unflinchingly, because, actually he truly believes
  • Pathological Lying - even his most ardent supporter cannot deny his perpetual lying. What is his presidential lie count at now?
  • Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt - doubles down on everything he has done wrong
  • Shallow Emotions - have you ever seen Trumps face truly light up with a smile? Ever? Even on the Apprentice? Nope, because he doesn't have a deep set of emotions
  • Incapacity for Love - cheated on every long term partner he has had. Treats his current trophy wife like dirt
  • Need for Stimulation - partying with paedos, inciting violence to crowds of his supporters, daily verbal outbursts on twitter. Promiscuity is also in this category.
  • Callousness/Lack of Empathy - his comments about it being a great day for George Floyd is a great example of this
  • Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature - "Rage and abuse.....Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others." -- taken direct from the definition
  • Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency - got sent to a military school because his dad couldn't handle him and wanted his behaviour checked "Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc." - all evident in trumps history
  • Irresponsibility/Unreliability - "Not concerned about wrecking others' lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed." - again direct form the definition
  • Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity - "Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts." - obvious
  • Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle - "Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively." Fits again, he is known to be lazy, but exploits others, via his charm, then skims off the top.
  • Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility - "Changes their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily." - again undeniable.

Trump is undeniably a sociopath. Many experienced psychologists even broke ranks and stated it as such. If he had been born into a poor family he would almost certainly have been in and out of prison. At least when he is out and the investigations start, he can't avoid prison on a 'diminished responsibility' claim.
 
I just struggle very badly with his approval ratings. I simply just do not get it. Tbh I'm bordering on xenophobia with it.
I just can't weigh up how or why he remains as popular as he does?
I keep thinking, after each appalling Trump episode, that surely thats the final straw but it seems no matter what he does or says they still see him as their man.
How can they go from Obama to him?

Can someone help me with this?
 
His lack of empathy has always been the big indicator to me as he simply has none zero he can’t even fake it convincingly ( which many can) look at his photo op in front of the church holding that bible look at his reaction His cold stare and how he’s holding it it all so cold. It’s actually quite chilling.

The answer is simple people hated hillary, in order for him to win that election he needed to be up against some one more polarising than himself. She was the ultimate marmite candidate ( hell some democrats didn’t vote for her).

for those that don’t really know america it may surprise them to discover just how unpopular hillary Clinton was/is over there but then again to some she is beyond reproach the devoted masses, there are very few in the us that didn’t have an opinion on her.. be she was the perfect woman to be America’s first female president or she was the she devil that killed those people in white water ( google it).

trump knew this and so just as he did in the primaries knew the answer wasn’t about what he can do but more about what she can’t his personal smear campaign was such that she was portrayed as the elitist Wall Street shill even though he was the real one percenter The New Yorker socialite Billionaire but he was somehow the common man.
 
Trump gives light to the things that some people hide and legitimises them. They hide them because they know they are wrong, unlike extremists who embrace their views.
You don't have to be openly racist to back Trump, but you do have to be open to racism to not reject him out of hand.
The lies, the pushing of the boundaries, the normalisation of the abnormal, these have all been steps towards an autocracy and it is now crunch time for Americans to either defend the constitution or to reject it. Trump has hidden behind the constitution while simultaneously trying to tear it up, it is time for America to decide on its future.

The answer to the question is

America. It's always been an outlier of civilization.
 
It all comes down to religion. The religious right in America love Trump as he seems to stand up for their values. They oppose the idea that you can legislate to solve issues and instead believe the problem is people not having god in their hearts. They have gone so far away from the teachings of Christ (BTW I am not religious but those teachings are good). I mean bibles and guns just do not go together

neo-liberals used the media to demonise the left and frighten people into not voting for them. It's the same trick that has happened here for 45 years. We were all told that the country would go bankrupt if Kinnock got in, Thatcher got in and was the start of boom and bust. Brown was blamed for a world financial failure and project fear was instigated that we would be bankrupt if we didn't vote Tory. Then the debt increased while public services were ground down. Corbyn was painted as a national threat to security and financially incompetent. Yet here we are with a Tory government that is a threat to national security sending people back to care homes to infect and kill, while our financial performance is continuing to be terrible.

The reality is fear is an easier sell than optimism, fear of change is the easiest fear of all to sell. Therefore conservatism and its advocacy of keeping the status quo is the easiest of the easy sells.
