The rugby world cup begins tomorrow!

They call it " a mixte"
Isn't that the description and not what you want in your 'mixte' sandwich?

Edit: Cardiff's picture tends to back up what I put above.

I've just finished 8 weeks holiday in France and now I think I am an expert on the language - I struggle ordering drinks. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Actual Norman if you order and sandwiches mIxte you will get ham and cheese I believe. I love French bread and cheese. It’s a weakness.

South. Africa v Ireland in the Group stages is a massive game because the loser will probably play France in the Quarter Final. So two possible finals could play out in the groups and Quarter Final. I am going for a South Africa v France final as I believe SA will beat Ireland.

Yeah SA seem to have avoided a lot of the dramas the other teams have. They've got to be one of the faves

They have ...... but would you ever bet against the All Blacks ? Not sure I would (despite last Friday's result)
It's a tough one. They certainly aren't the team they were 8 years ago. but, as you say, it's a brave man who woudl bet against them in a world cup.

I would really like to see France win it. I know Ireland beat them to the six nations but they are just great to watch.

France lost to Argentina on the opening night in 2007. That was a bit shock at the time.

I think New Zealand might just put in a quality performance and beat them as well.

Decent article from Stuart Barnes re Smith making a potential impact from the bench at fullback

I still remain unconvinced. I agree with most of the article but it does seem to suggest he can step away under an aerial bombardment. Outs a lot of pressure on our wingers to be on the right place defensively if so. We shall see though.

Although it hasn't translated to international rugby he's certainly got the talent to ignite a game

Whilst on the subject of rugby, have you rugby fans noticed a Teesside club appearing in the national results in the BBC site?

Billingham RFC might not be there long but they were promoted last year as the only team not paying wages to the players

For local rugby fans a chance to see decent quality on your doorstep. Derby match this weekend at home to Tynedale after a stuffing at Rotherham on the opening weekend.

Funnily enough, I was looking at the fixtures and did notice Billingham RFC. Have you been to watch them?
